  7. CW: Is Beijing in China 🇨🇳 under partial martial law‽ (death of Li Keqiang)

People in #China 🇨🇳 are mourning the passing of #LiKeqiang.

There seems to be speculation that #Keqiang was killed as he believed in reforming China 🇨🇳 while #XiJinping disagreed with that perspective (disagreeing with #Jinping is bad for your health in China 🇨🇳).

    📹 youtu.be/61VnOM8ZTGY

Apparently the Chinese government is nervous about people laying flowers & showing public remorse & has ramped up security in Beijing.

  18. The victims of CCP's dictatorship find it harder to feel sad over hard-working Party loyalists. Case in point:

[AdrianZenz] My recent article shows Li Keqiang's economic policy towards Uyghurs: Forced labor.

He argued that southern Xinjiang's "3 million surplus laborers" posed a "prominent problem", as they are "easily exploited by evildoers." They must be put to work.

  22. There are various reasons why people might elect to mourn the death of an unfailingly loyal CCP cadre at this point in time:

    ☭ Some associate Li K. with the pre-stagnation (money-making) period before 2020.

☭ Some mourn the loss of an *alternative*, any alternative to chairman Xi.

☭ Some, especially the wishful foreign engagers, mourn the the death of their own hopes and wishes for a less repressive CCP, or the loss of a token "good cop" face used to present the "peaceful rise" selling point.

☭ Some use this as an opportunity to belatedly express support for an *alternative*, any alternative to chairman Xi, as a disguised form of demonstration.

  26. When I see people hagiographizing and even mourning a top level deceased CCP cadre I want to ask:

What CCP policies exactly did he make less repressive or violent during his time around the 'top'? Any worth mentioning?

E.g. #HuYaobang was mourned because of his belated attempts to moderate the regime's policies...

Of course, the act of mourning for someone *other* than the great leader may carry a meaning in itself, but mourning a "team player" outside the #GFW?

  30. ☝️ The *victims* of the regime might be forgiven (option not available inside the empire) if they fail to appreciate the scattered unofficial nostalgia for a leading supporting cadre who served as the Party's 'premier' for a decade while, well, 'stuff' kept happening to them.

Maybe, just maybe comrade Li would have been less extreme as the supreme leader, but isn't that entire point moot since all he really ended up *doing* was rubberstamping the #XiJinping's policies we've all come to love and appreciate?

The #PRC/#CCP stopped "biding time" a decade ago and comrade Li was right in the middle of it as supreme leader's number 2.
