Never seen an app go so wrong, so fast.
The #Abbott #Freestyle #Libre3 app has pissed off all its #diabetic users w/:
❌ app crashes
❌ bad readings
❌ false alarms at 3AM...all from one dumb update, no relief in sight & no appstore response other than to "call their customer service line".
Awful.

Interesting observation running both a Dexcom Stelo and Libre 3 Plus through Nightscout: The random spikes and return to normal from Libre 3 are purely a Libre 3 thing and not something weird with my body. The Stelo never registers the spikes.

LibreLinkUp US is back!
And yeah, I had a hard drop during the dog walk. Fun stuff.
The Libre 3 app exaggerates the drop a bit, though. Because it has a non-adjustable time view. And it smooths out how low I went.
This is why I prefer using other apps to view my data and get alerts.

The Libre 3 app doesn’t have a rapid fall alert. Just high, low, urgent low, and signal loss. I experience hypos below 80mg/dl. But I can feel them sooner if there’s a rapid drop. Part of it is the drop itself, part of it is CGM lag.
I couldn’t get ahead of this hypo because I use a third party app consuming LLU to help me with this.
I really hate this feeling.

Ugh, looks like LibreLinkUp US is having issues but their status page says all is fine. This is affecting many of my diabetes management tools. I’m about to go for a walk with IOB.
-
Welp. That sensor failed out. I suspect it couldn't figure out my glucose situation and thought itself to be faulty.
To be honest, after 3 consecutive bad sites, I might just go the rest of the week without a CGM. I'll just have to be mindful about my BG via finger sticks to avoid going hypo, and pay attention to my body.

Today is new sensor day and it's the third one in a row that was a mild bleeder. The last 2 read low. The first one never came up so I removed it. The last one ended up being pretty good.
This one is reading low again. So…another waiting a day to see what happens.
To be clear: This is not a faulty sensor issue. They are not designed to read from blood. This is just really bad luck.

I just learned Abbott has released the Freestyle Libre 3 Plus system.
The Libre 2 Plus had a couple of changes to make it compatible for AID systems. The Libre 3 was supposed to be ready for this, but apparently one more change was, ultimately, needed, likely brought from the Libre 2 Plus.
Reduction in interference from ascorbic acid.
I actually didn’t know this was a problem for AID systems.
I requested my doc to switch me over.

If trends keep on track, this sensor might be usable by tomorrow. It’s still reading low, but the gap is closing.
I’ve had to get more test strips for the blood sacrifices in the meantime. I was running low and blowing through them.

So when a sensor acts particularly wonky, Shuggah (the app I use for diabetes management) has a bad time. The only way to fix it, I've found, is to reinstall it, which causes all the historical data in the app to be lost.
I can't dissociate the old sensor either. It's just...broken until reinstalled.
Why can't things...just...work?

New replacement sensor is starting out the same as the previous: reading way low. While I'm at 190mg/dl (blood glucose reading), it's reading 110mg/dl.
I shall give this it's day and see how it's going tomorrow.
Abbott recently had a recall of 3 lots of Libre 3 sensors. These are not part of the recall. Also the recalled sensors were reading excessively high values, not low.
Seems Abbott might be having a bad time right now.

Yesterday’s new CGM was a bust. It kept reading low, occasionally coming up and falling back down. So I replaced it this morning.
It was a light bleeder when it was inserted so I anticipated a day 1 issue, but it never resolved, and is actually causing problems. So it’s a failed sensor.
There’s a knot where the filament inserted. So probably not a faulty sensor, just a bad site.
Now to wait for the new one. Again.

This new sensor has been annoying today. It read okay initially, but has otherwise been reading low. Not like bottomed out low like a sensor that isn’t able to read, but much lower than my actual BG.
Going to give it until tomorrow to get its act together before I yeet it.

New sensor day!
I was thinking it was reading a bit low. Finally got a chance to verify with finger stick and it seems okay. My body is just behaving a bit better today, I guess. Didn’t even bolus to correct my morning high (didn’t want to risk going low during sensor warmup).

My 24 hour GMI is 5.7. I’ve probably not had an HbA1c below 6.0% since I was a kid. I don’t think I can sustain what granted me this day, it’s probably a fluke. But my recent trends should show an HbA1c between 6.0% and 6.5%.

Sitting at 78mg/dl at the moment. This is right on the verge of me experiencing hypoglycemia symptoms. Debating if I should fix this or try to ride it out. It seems to be holding stable, but I still have some IOB from my dinner dose.
I guess dinner carbs were mis-estimated.
This is among the various decisions I have to make as an insulin dependent diabetic.

With at least a low dose of Mounjaro back in my regimen, my time in range for the last 7 days is 98%.
Still not super confident at supply.
One thing that is for sure is I’m not getting the gut side effects. Being off for over 2 months then going back on at a higher than base dose did not reintroduce nausea, nor did it return hunger suppression and whatnot. Kinda bummed, actually.

When you nail your blood glucose management with the right ratio, and just vibe all day.
(this is even a bit more carbs than I usually have in a day, I don’t normally have a carby snack between lunch and dinner)
-
New CGM sensor day. Kinda sad to see this one go. Probably one of the least noisy ends to a sensor I’ve seen. It was a minor experiment with placement. But, there’s a hard cut off for these, so it’s just time to change.
In the future, Abbott will have Libre 3 working for 15 days instead of 14 days. Libre 2 Plus is already 15 days.
-
Getting close to 24 hours time in range. Haven’t seen this in a good while. Yesterday’s lunch sent me high. Made a lunch choice today (6g carbs, low insulin dose) to see if I can get yesterday’s lunch to fall off my 24 hours and stay in range.
Worth noting my average TIR is around 85% over 30 days.

Today is new sensor day. I decided to try a slightly different location than normal. Right now this is a sample size of 1 (n=1) but this one might not work out. It’s a little hurty and reading pretty low compared to blood glucose.
As usual, must wait until tomorrow to decide if it needs the yeet treatment.
My last one was flawless for its 2 week life, though!

So I seem to have confirmed what killed my last Libre 3 sensor. I’m about 2 days from the end of my current one, so I popped this 20+ year old camera flash near it. Sure enough, sensor failed.
So if you’re a photographer using Libre 3 (and likely other CGMs), and you like classic cameras, be careful!
New sensor has been applied. Now to wait for the warmup.
