#introduction
Hello, from the innerwest suburbs of #Melbourne #Naarm #WurundjeriLand. I love #sewing (mostly clothes from indie pattern design companies) and currently studying #InformationManagement and #librarystudies. I've had a long career teaching #literature in international and higher education, but burnout finally got me after teaching remotely over the pandemic lockdowns for almost two years. I am making the move into another career, and prioritising work-life balance, opportunities to gain new perspectives, and develop new skills.
Hoping to connect with fellow #sewists #booknerds #librarians -
Since I (also) switched to hcommons.social a few days ago, here is my third #introduction!
I am a PhD student in Islamic and Arabic Studies in Münster, Germany, working on practices of evidence and strategies of verification of prophetic descent in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century North Africa. In particular, I am examining texts on a particular descent community claiming prophetic descent: the descendants of ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Jilānī, from a translocal perspective.
Also: I am excited to see something growing here that I didn't think was possible a few months ago. Glad to be here with you all!
fyi: I have enabled automatic deletion of posts after one month.
