When I was in school, we were taught that most Germans didn't really know what was going on. And how horrified they were when they found out.

And… like; it's kind of hard not to notice when people suddenly vanish. But people can be very wishful thinking when terrible things happen. So, you know. It sounded kind of plausible.

We are currently getting a correcting lesson.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was born on 4 February 1906 in Breslau, then Germany (now Poland). He was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian and anti-Nazi dissident. Bonhoeffer was accused of being associated with the 20 July plot to assassinate Adolf Hitler and was tried along with other accused plotters. He was hanged on 9 April 1945 as the Nazi regime was collapsing.
