Die Analyse der Professorenbibliothek Johann Gottfried Lakemachers zeigt, wie eng Ökonomie, Sammlungspraxis und Wissensordnung bereits im 18. Jahrhundert verflochten waren.
Digitale Geisteswissenschaften werden hier besonders stark, wenn sie nicht nur Daten erschließen, sondern historische Ordnungslogiken sichtbar machen.

  3. How do societies remember those once hidden behind institutional walls? The Swedish podcast "Vipeholmsanstalten" reconstructs the world of neglect, coercion and medical experimentation in one of Sweden’s largest institutions for intellectually disabled people.

Anna Derksen explores how the podcast produces historical knowledge as a form of mediated memory 👇

  5. A lot of the methods we use to organise knowledge and information today, are very recent inventions (and probably in a profound transformation process through Data Mining / so called AI etc.) The 16th & 17th century were another great age of experiments in knowledge organisation in Europe . Ann Blair is an expert on this and very fun to listen to in this podcast, #historyofknowledge #historyofscience #earlymodernhistory

  6. @lafayettepod @histodons @medievalists I live in New Zealand. I was able to follow my ancestry back through various Normans to Henry 111 of England, thus on to Eleanor D’Aquitaine - Savoy - Charlemagne (with a billion other descendants). Years ago I visited Eleanor, Henry 11 and Richard Lionheart’s resting place in the Loire valley. If I’d known I’d have said hi granddad and grandma (22 times removed). #history #historyofknowledge #books #bookstodon #thesocialcontract

  11. Hello All,

this will be the first of two #introduction s. The one in which I am an #earlymodern #histodon – one of the #earlymodons (emphasis on "ly") that is.

I do research, teach and care for my students at RWTH Aachen University.

My interests are in the #reformazing history of cities, earlymodern #urbanhistory, #historyofknowledge and especially cultures and religious knowledge of early modern artisans.

I'm also a nerd with a family, hobbies and political opinions. More about that later.

  12. Since I (also) switched to hcommons.social a few days ago, here is my third #introduction!

I am a PhD student in Islamic and Arabic Studies in Münster, Germany, working on practices of evidence and strategies of verification of prophetic descent in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century North Africa. In particular, I am examining texts on a particular descent community claiming prophetic descent: the descendants of ʿAbd al-Qādir al-Jilānī, from a translocal perspective.

Also: I am excited to see something growing here that I didn't think was possible a few months ago. Glad to be here with you all!

fyi: I have enabled automatic deletion of posts after one month.

  17. Hi everyone, finally getting around to writing a little #introduction. I’m a #histodon of the 20th century, mostly working on #historyofknowledge, #mediahistory, and (global) #intellectualhistory. Last year, I published a book on the history of global thinking. Other works deal with social engineering, including a book on the 1930s London „Peckham-Experiment“. More here: davidkuchenbuch.de/ I may also be posting photos of nice buildings here, a bit of a hobby of mine, we’ll see.

  18. #Introduction: I go by Atlas on the internet, and I research and write about #personalknowledgemanagement (or #PKM) from a historical perspective – particularly #notetaking.

    I have wider interests in #bookhistory #manuscripts #historyofknowledge #intellectualhistory #libraryhistory #digitalhumanities #medieval #earlymodern #renaissance

I'm not a professional, just somebody who adds more to my Zotero library than I can ever hope to read.
