Son second ouvrage paraît bientôt : The Whiteness between Us: Early Modern Playbooks of Racial Triangulation

    Bref, je suis fan !

  16. The King’s Health - a political song from the reign of Charles II.

It's sung to the tune of Farrinel's Ground, also known as La Follia. This ground, used as a base for divisions (variations) for both instruments and voices, was popular throughout the early modern period.

Written in the early 1680s, at the time of the Popish Plot, the song praises the King and the Duke of York (the future James II), encouraging everyone to drink to their health. It is virulently anti-Catholic and anti-Whig.

    Emily Atkinson: soprano
    Robin Jeffrey: lute
    Alison Kinder: bass viol

  17. Right around the time the birdsite started to disintegrate, I shared the link for the (as yet bare-bones) Premodern Trans Studies Crowdsourced Annotated Bibliography. Please share and contribute if you can.
(I created it out of enthusiasm, but it's really not the thing I'm most knowledgeable.)

  18. How were prominent figures who had physical disabilities treated at court in early modern England? Dr Andrew Thrush looks at how figures such as Robert Cecil and Charles I engaged with court while facing barriers from their peers👉 ow.ly/MGZc50LmBT5 #DisabilityHistoryMonth #DHM #DisabilityHistory #EarlyModern #CharlesI

  19. I love #TraditionalMusic from many parts of the world, but don’t play it, or even much sing it, but for #SeaShanties, which you are encouraged to sing even when your volume exceeds your tunefulness.

I am fascinated by #HandCrafted things, and I want to get back into #ceramics and learn more #crochet, but mainly make #papiermâché, especially masks.

I am fascinated by #archaeology and #PreModern and #EarlyModern history and literature, especially, but not exclusively #plays.

  20. #introduction to the other #histodons !

I'm a dress historian with an interest in all things #adornment and #MaterialCulture. I'm interested in the #HistoryOfDress, #HistoryOfTextiles, and the #EarlyModernAtlantic.

I have a book in copy edits right now on the dress culture of early #Acadia, and a paper coming soon on #weaving in Scottish Cape Breton.

My current big project is on #spurs and #EarlyModern #masculinities, and I teach a four-course sequence on global #FashionHistory.
