How did early modern utopias reimagine society and nature? Answers can be found in the case of the Philadelphia’s green spaces to mining ventures—that tested alternative models of living, where humans, animals, and resources coexisted in radical ways.

The King’s Health - a political song from the reign of Charles II.
It's sung to the tune of Farrinel's Ground, also known as La Follia. This ground, used as a base for divisions (variations) for both instruments and voices, was popular throughout the early modern period.
Written in the early 1680s, at the time of the Popish Plot, the song praises the King and the Duke of York (the future James II), encouraging everyone to drink to their health. It is virulently anti-Catholic and anti-Whig.
Emily Atkinson: soprano
Robin Jeffrey: lute
Alison Kinder: bass violhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrWCx88_sEU&ab_channel=Passamezzo
