Golden Hour at The Roundy

Late afternoon sun hit Castle Street at just the right angle and turned the whole scene outside The Roundy into something cinematic. The outside area of the pub was packed with people drinking and enjoying the afternoon and soaking up the kind of Cork sunshine you never quite trust to last.

The lens flare flooding in from the right was almost too much, but I leaned into it rather than fighting it. Sometimes the technically “wrong” choice is the one that captures the actual feel of a moment and this one felt like the first real evening of spring.

Why are #MotionBlur, #FilmGrain, #ChromaticAberration, #DepthOfField, #Bloom, #Vignette, #LensFlare, #VolumetricFog and heavy #TAA enabled by default? They may look #Cinematic, but in real #Gameplay they are awful. 🫣

They blur the image, reduce #Clarity and #Readability, hide details, cost reaction time — and waste a lot of #FPS on effects that actively
make the image worse. For me, some of them even cause #MotionSickness. I disable all of this #Immediately. They directly hurt #Performance and #Playability.

I buy a 4K monitor and powerful hardware to get max. sharpness and textures, only to end up with blur and lower performance that completely negate it? 🤨

I want #VisualClarity, #Precision, #Control.

Good morning from Trollhättan in Sweden. My family and I are on our way to Sälen for a ski Christmas vacation - and stopped for an overnight in Trollhättan, which turned out to be a very charming town with a lot of Christmas lights and decorations. Just randomly shooting with a #PolarizingFilter. A bit of #LensFlare and a #Gull near the #Sun but I think the #Clouds steal the scene. They have a characteristic flattened bottom side indicating a uniform temperature gradient in the atmosphere up to the #DewPoint and know that gives you a sense of depth perception.
