Folks, I've done it again: revolutionizing the tabletop roleplaying game with my new release today, FISHING IN THE SPEAKING LANDS.
You know how every MMO and CRPG has a fishing minigame?
You know how no TTRPG has a fishing minigame?
Well I've fixed that problem for you, for us, for everybody.
Fishing in the Speaking Lands is a fishing minigame that you can bolt on to any Cortex game you like!
And it's free all this week: https://itch.io/s/150344/fishing-in-the-speaking-lands-april-1st-release

It's like the worst day of the week to post content, but hey, I wrote a Cortex adventure for this weekend and I think it came out really well! :D

Writing a challenge pool with the SFX "Chekhov's Pregnant Gnoll," which, really, is why I write game content.

I’m on the Primed by Cortex podcast today, talking about Emporium of the Speaking Lands!
We chat about adventuring gear, sfx, heists, and the Keystone Fantasy Roleplaying Game.
On the day of recording I had a bit of a cold so didn’t even try for voice, so this might be the last recorded instance of Mimsy’s BoyVoice.

The Emporium of the Speaking Lands is out on itch.io today! :D
The core idea—a big long list of nifty SFX to add to your gear and other cool stuff—has been knocking around my head for years, now. I'm very happy to see this useful little beast finally released into the wild!
While the Emporium is styled as part of the Speaking Lands setting, the mechanics are applicable to any Cortex game that uses SFX.

Give it a peek (and maybe a boost)!

Emporium of the Speaking Lands, my Cortex supplement for your adventurers' cool stuff, is releasing on Wednesday!
It's got more than 100 SFX options to make your gear do neat tricks and differentiate your cool stuff from your friends' cool stuff.
I'm terrible at self-promotion, so I'd appreciate a boost, especially if you've got gamers in your follows! :)

One more art piece. Then export and proofing *that,* and then building the itch.io page, and then prepping some teaser images and stuff... the finish line is so close! SO CLOSE!!!
-
I went into my office this morning intending to do a silly sketch for Inktober (or whatever we're calling it now) and kind of accidentally finalized three pieces of art and laid out a book. I... kind of don't know what to do with myself, now.
-
Been working on this one for far, far too long. I learned a whole lot on this (and restarted it a couple times). Glad to call it finished.
-
When you fire up Procreate to participate in Inktober and just get distracted by other pieces you haven't quite finished yet.

I really loved the floral embellishment along the brow on this helmet. And it's historical, too!

THE COURT OF THE TYRANT AT TOUR TORIEL is finally released, out in the wild, and most importantly off my desk!
This is the fourth installment of the Ascent to Prime campaign I've been developing which teaches new players how to play (and run) Cortex Prime games.
It's really cool, if I do say so myself.
Devlog here: https://miriamrobern.itch.io/keystone-ap4/devlog/529005/release

At long last, I think The Tyrant's Court Atop Tour Toriel, the fourth adventure in the Ascent to Prime series, is just about ready to go. I wanted to release it at the end of last summer, but life intervened.
Pro tip: do not transition in the middle of an ambitious pub plan.
Going to let the doc settle overnight, give it one more look tomorrow, and assuming all is well, then get it up on itch.io.

The gang's all here!
The Dread Tyrant, his lieutenants and lovers and backstabbers, the movers and shakers in the Court at Tour Toriel, folks who've already conquered the known world and present a formidable if surprising obstacle for our plucky heroes the PCs.
Now that I've completed the art, I can finalize the layout for the Tyrant's Court Atop Tour Toriel and get this sucker released!
-
Even with my clever cheat of plagiarizing Rembrandt, this piece took FOREVER to complete. But here in all their glory is the Court of Tour Toriel, the guys who conquered the known world for Mithon the First, now slowly dissolving into their own personal foibles in the unassailable fortress at the roof of the world. They're pretty much bad news all around.

Peshak the Rider, from the Gazetteer of the Speaking Lands
Y'all have chosen wisely in this week's entry, as now I get to share with you the exploits of Peshak the Rider, culture hero throughout northern Ipieros, rebel icon, and all around fascinating figure... if I do say so, myself.#GazetteerOfTheSpeakingLands #KeystoneFantasy #CortexPrime #TTRPG #IndieTTRPG

Did a "color test" that took all day to see if I want to color and shade the rest of the portraits for the Keystone Court. Probably will?

CW: Industraza, from the Gazetteer of the Speaking Lands / Fantasy Worldbuilding
I say this about so many of them, but the entry on Industraza is one of my favorites. While the inspiration for this entry can be squarely laid at the feet of the TikTok Sea Shanty trend, which was absolutely everywhere when I wrote this, I like to think that the entry really developed into its own unique thing.

They're disreputable, uncouth, rowdy, and possibly untrustworthy. Everybody knows they're trouble. (They're also everybody's unspoken favorite.) They're GOBLINS!
-
Am writing a skill list, which is always a struggle between having fun with it and having too much fun with it.
-
Okay, I think I pretty much nailed this illustration of the Dread Tyrant. I'm sure I'll come back to it tomorrow and find a dozen details to niggle over, but the vibe is the right mix of dissipation, intimidation, and poise.
This is the guy who literally conquered the world and then you and your friends broke into his house.

One day left for next week's Gazetteer post, and there's already 19 votes on it, which is far and away the most votes I've ever had on one of these. Thank you, dice.camp! I'm glad I joined you!

Wow, got seven votes on this week's Gazetteer poll. That's a record since I moved from birdsite to mastodon.
Anybody wanna make it more? :D
It's fun fantasy worldbuilding nonsense, come join!
