  1. Hi ! 🤺

I am an apprentice fencing trainer, doing mostly epee and foil. Currently in this sport for ~15 years.

I'm also training in para-fencing and adapted physical activity since I'm disabled myself.

Intersectionality, free Palestine and stuff. Out of my job I'm advocacing for disabled and LGBT+ rights.

I aspire to become an inclusive teacher, fighting oppressions going in my sport and environnement, for a brighter future for my students and women, children, LGBT+ and POC in sports.

Please be nice, english isn't my first langage !

  2. I’ll be at this event with New Mexico Fencing Foundation, demonstrating the sport and raffling tickets, at SWAN Park in Santa Fe, 2:00–5:00 this Saturday: santafenm.gov/news/back-to-sch

  3. I spent some time today, more than I should have, trying to find a fault in an electric fence.
It turns out that the energiser was no longer capabale of dealing with that much wire.
I put a new energiser on and Eva will launch sideways sometime very soon as she discovers the new power source.

  4. It's #Russia v #Ukraine and Russia leads. But Ukraine triumphs in the end

...I'm talking about #women's team #saber/ #sabre, but, yeah, that other thing too

Ukraine advanced to the quarterfinals of the World #Fencing Championships in #HongKong

(It's a shame they let Russia compete, frankly)

  5. Death trap: Killing Australian wildlife with everyday items

"Flying foxes make up two-thirds of all entanglement cases in NSW"

"But it’s not just flying foxes – entanglements affect hundreds of different species, mostly mammals and birds, including kangaroos, platypus, raptors and gliders....Hungry animals, especially flying foxes, birds and possums, are attracted to flowers and fruits, and get easily caught in “large-aperture” nets, where the mesh size is greater than 5mm. The rule of thumb is that if you can poke a finger through it, it’s not safe for wildlife."

"Aquatic debris makes up about 10% of entanglement cases, according to NSW wildlife rescue data. Fishing line is probably the most difficult type of litter for platypus to cope with, and causes horrendous injuries – it basically just cuts through the skin.” >>

  6. Last fencing event of the season. The Seattle Slashers lost our team event but made a tough fight. I made close to half our points, and beat my personal rival Jouchim--a B rated fencer to my E rating--for the first time.

    Lost, but going home proud!

  7. The next moment, Yuliia is swept away by a hot wave of #triumph. She has emerged victorious again, while her #opponent, multiple #Olympic #champion and #Russian Armed #Forces major Sofya Velikaya, got knocked out of the 2025 #Fencing #World Championships.

  8. I've been fencing épée for eight months now, and today is my first attempt at a competition where I'm not handed an advantage for being new to the sport.
My target is sufficiently modest I think - score one point on everyone I fence - and I think that's going to be tough given half the competitors are ranked in the low double-digits in the country for their age.

  9. @zackwhittaker On Monday my daughter competed in her first national-level fencing competition. Seeded mid-20s (out of 40) she finished 10th, just outside the cut for the quarter-finals. She out-performed all the fencers present that she'd lost to while qualifying to represent her region, while hobbled through not having her coach present (only me, and I don't fence with her weapon) and managing her period.
It was a storming result for her, AND she knows how she could have done better!

  10. @Natasha_Jay As someone who had a go at fencing (I lasted about a year) this makes competitive fencing so much more interesting and accessible. I can't follow what's happening in 'big league ' events because it's just to fast - this visualisation is excellent
