  1. Hmm, I'm curious what the HRRR rain totals were saying for Kerr, Texas yesterday. They sometimes (but not always) highlight possible areas of extremely high rainfall rates. #wx #disaster #HRRR

  2. Lot more rain than HRRR had promised as of around midnight ET 10/9/24 #HRRR #Milton #FLwx

  3. Let's see what all the models are saying about Francine. Looks like ICON is the most aggressive. HRRR is close but less intense. Of course, this does not reflect the real impacts of these storms (i.e. how much rainfall, how fast is a big one... ) Always trust the NHC more than random-dude-on-the-Internet, as usual. #Francine #HRRR #ICON #GEM #GFS #TropicalWx

  4. HRRR saying 9 inches of rain by 11am tomorrow in Lafayette, LA. I wonder how the drainage is there... #flooding #HRRR #LAwx

  5. Hmm, curious what the cause of these round artifacts (1 hour precip) in the HRRR model are for tonight. #HRRR #wx

  6. HRRR forecast of brief clearing for Ventura County not verifying at the moment... quite a bit of rain and runoff at the moment (at 0806, at least for my corner of the county). #hrrr #CAwx #rain

  7. HRRR predictions for rain through Wednesday... lots of this is due to hit today in the LA/Riverside/Orange County. #rain #CAwx #storm #AtmosphericRiver #HRRR

  8. Fire hose from the atmospheric river is moving into the San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles now. (still raining here in Ventura County, but the intense part of the storm moving east). Orange County will intensify around 4am (per HRRR), then San Diego around 9am. #CAwx #HRRR #rain

  9. Radar at noon vs. HRRR rainfall prediction at 1pm. 🤔 😟 #CAwx #rain #HRRR

  10. 3 hour period between 1pm and 4pm today looks to be very intense for Santa Barbara and Ojai, based on the HRRR weather model. #CAwx #rain #HRRR

  11. Lunchtime in Santa Barbara tomorrow (Sunday, 2/4/24) looks like it will be extra spicy, based on the HRRR (some rain bursts before that too, but first prediction of extremely high rainfall on the computer model). Nearly an inch an hour.. #CAwx #rain #HRRR

  12. So, the ghost in the HRRR machine puts totals near Santa Barbara (on 12/22/23 at 9am) at less than an Inch. But at 12/22/23 at 10am then says it thinks total accumulation will be 5 inches. It's likely a glitch (the HRRR accumulation algorithm), but I do wonder what's going to be correct. #mystery #HRRR #wx #weather #forecasting

  13. Rain hits Ensenada, Mexico at 1am per HRRR. Inland San Diego at 2am. San Diego Mountains at 3am. LA/Long Beach/Indio at 4am. #CAwx #HRRR #SanDiego #rain #storm

  14. The #HRRR weather model currently saying the rain from #HurricaneHilary will be hitting Escondido/Oceanside by 5pm on Sunday. #hurricane #hilary

  15. #HRRR does not agree there will be much #rain in #LosAngeles through Thursday at 5pm. Nothing. #CAwx

  16. @BakerRL75 Today over the next 3 hours for example... intense #rainfall near #Knoxville #TNwx forecast by #HRRR

  17. Interesting, #HRRR did not predict the 3 inch to 4 inch rainfall in #Elida #NM occurring right now. It does have a storm there, but the rainfall numbers apparently do not match the flash flood conditions. #NMwx

  18. Gaaah.. wandered deep into the mysterious world of weather models in doing some #GIS work, and now I am staring at #GRIB2 and all kinds of #HRRR #WX stuff that requires a PhD in weather forecasting to understand, LOL.

  19. I'm not sure how good #HRRR snow forecasts are, but 17.26 inches in 3 hours possible near Grass Valley Lake, #SanBernardino, depending on the exact snowline.

  20. #HRRR #CAwx saying tomorrow at 8am is going to be quite the storm hitting Central and Southern California.

  21. You know too much about weather forecasting when you use the #HRRR to plan out picking someone up from the #airport. "Oh look, I have a two hour window before we get caught in torrential downpours!" (this assumes the plane lands on time).

  22. Anyone in #Ventura #SantaBarbara #LosAngeles county (and north), some seriously huge #rainfall forecasts in the #HRRR #weather model. These are some very #extreme numbers.
