  1. Fight Against Rape: The Broader Issue and Ways to Fight It

Till now, I have been an observer to this entire situation that’s been happening.

For those who may not be aware of the details, you can catch up here: Kolkata doctor rape-murder case

Summary of the Situation: A Kolkata doctor was raped and murdered, sparking outrage across the city. The incident unfolded as she went missing after work, leading to a massive search. Her body was found, with signs of sexual assault and severe injuries. The case has shocked the local community.

Note: This post contains potentially offensive content.

If you choose to continue, please set aside strong emotional reactions and read it from an objective perspective.

The Aftermath of the Situation: The act in this situation was outright horrendous, as every rape is. After the situation came into the limelight, the immediate response of the masses was outrage.

They also demanded justice. While raising their voices on social media, after some time the situation lost its agenda and sense of direction. Keep reading to understand this better. Before that, check this out.

The data shown is just regional and reported. The worldwide cases might be unimaginable, especially amidst the war in certain countries.

Understanding How to Raise Your Voice

    Why raise your voice?

Raising your voice will surely gain awareness on the topic. It will also demand justice. However, be very clear that this might not ultimately lead to justice.

    Where to raise your voice?

Candle marches and social media platforms like Instagram are powerful tools for spreading awareness. They show sympathy.

However, they are not enough. We somehow need a solution to directly address the situation, something beyond our faulty legal systems.

    The Dangers of Misplaced Anger

Remember when I mentioned how we lost the agenda and sense of direction amidst all the heat? What I meant was the classic “not all men” but “always a man.”

This approach only fuels gender-based conflict and detracts us from the real issue—fighting against rape.

    Social Outrage

While the situation arises heated emotions within oneself, it has a low social life of a few days. This depends on how “famous” or viral the topic went.

Take a moment and think how many times we raised our voice for it to just get forgotten.

The Broader Issue: What Are We Fighting?

    Grading of Rape

What happened in Kolkata is tragic, but again, every rape is. Rape occurs irrespective of gender, race, and species.

Now is the time to ask ourselves: Are we fighting a single act of violence and cruelty? Or are we fighting this situation as a whole?

    Personal Responsibility

Beyond raising our voices against a single act of violence, how can we address the whole issue? Sadly, I don’t have the time, energy, or, most importantly, the power to fight this cause.

I understand that most readers may feel the same. If you can somehow influence a larger audience to fight against the cause as a mass, don’t wait any longer.

    The Fight Against Government Inaction

Criticizing the government’s handling of rape cases

The government’s response to sexual violence has often been criticized for being slow and ineffective.

Leaders like Mamata Banerjee have faced backlash for their handling of such cases. It’s clear that more needs to be done.

    Demanding Better Leaders and Laws

I didn’t vote because my beliefs don’t align with democracy. Are your leaders addressing these issues before asking for your vote and support Before it’s too late?

we clearly don’t have strict enough laws that can generate fear before such acts are committed.

    Gender and Empowerment

    Avoiding the gender conflict

In this heat of moment women have started feeling unsafe. Some statistics show that a rape is reported every 16 minutes.

If you feel safe right now, have you been willing to appreciate the people in your life? Do you appreciate those who keep you safe?

Both men and women need to be educated on how together we need to stop the cause.

    Female empowerment in context

It is understandable how crushing it must be to be a woman. It is disheartening to see no improvement with rape as an issue.

Even I want the women in my life to be comfortable and at peace around me. But that can’t happen if they don’t trust me anymore.

Empowerment should not mean using victimhood and crushing another gender but ensuring equality and safety for all and together.

    How Can We Fight It?

Education: our education system is very weak. There needs to be proper teaching directly to the young generation about modern challenges.

We must teach them how to tackle these challenges together. Give basic education to people who can’t afford it.

Sexual Education: Sexual education is more than just learning about anatomies.

Teenagers, especially, need to start receiving education that focuses on in-depth topics that can help tackle rape.

Legal System: If we are growing together as humans, there need to be better protocols for women’s safety and freedom.

There should be stricter and more severe punishments for crimes.

Fight Government: So far, we’ve seen no improvement in rape cases and barely any justice in India.

It’s high time we start asking our leaders if they are worthy of the power they hold

Research the Cause: Rape has been happening for millenniums . Lust is one factor.

We need to find the underlying causes that lead to rape. We also need to determine how we can tackle them.

Community Engagement: We need to come in as member of human society. This will help us better hear smarter and more valid discussions on solutions. It will also show how we can fight such a big cause.

Now you can go back to your heated emotions but with sense of perspective and direction. How do you think we can stop rape?

If you found the content helpful, please share it to spread the word. It’s time we all take responsibility and fight for a better society together.

    Adios, and live hard!
