Here is a cuddly AI robot that loves you.
Here is an AI drone who hates you.
Here is a robot police officer who can be reasoned with.
Here is a robot dog that will fuck up your fingers if they get anywhere near its dangerously exposed joints. Also it has a gun.

Some of the public's confusion about robots and AI is being fed by academic researchers who ought to know better. There is an unethical taint to every outcome that obscures the face that robots have exactly the same amount and kind of emotional reasoning machine as a blender. Don't put your hand in either. It does not care. It can't.

I went once when I first moved to #PDX but I lived in SE so it was a kinda long bike ride. I moved to NE and I was hoping to go more often since it's less than a mile away now, but then Covid happened.

So STOKED that it's coming back! Me and my partner have some #3Dprinting/#laserCutting projects we want to do!

I haven't been to a #dorkbot since I lived in #SF, so I can't wait to see what people bring!

#introduction I'm a software engineer that moved into leadership roles when I got tired of fighting w/ broken builds. I used to be involved in various tech communities (#scala, #dorkbot, #ruby, #oss, etc.), but keep a low profile of late. I also used to play music (mostly #punk & #postpunk) quite a bit, though these days it's just a hobby. I occasionally tinker with a lot of things, read, and enjoy watching TV/movies with my lovely wife @holyspacemonkey.
