  1. Sunday 2PM: This masked manchild rolled up to Dolores Park with a megaphone in order to assault hundreds of people's ears/minds with "radical" disjointed takes for over two hours. His message: "We live under fascism -- stop doomscrolling, come together, *do* something." Very clearly unread on any revolutionary history/theory (a feat in the Bay Area imo). When confronted, he'd say to everyone, "Any of you are free to call the police." An elderly neighbor that lives nearby told me he did the same thing last weekend, also for over two hours. His rant was so grating that many of us had to move to the other side of the park.

Here he is today at 5pm, at it again outside 16th Mission BART. If he actually wants to help people, why not join a real grassroots effort...? My guess: he's either a useful idiot or paid to perform.

    Anyone here recognize him?

  2. Today is Sunday Streets in the #MissionDistrict of #SanFrancisco. Folks are setting up now, I think the event begins at 11 with ten blocks open to the people for walking, riding bikes, and other activities. sundaystreetssf.com/

  3. Dorkbot SF is happening tonight at Monkey Brains (933 Treat St). $5-20 sliding scale with four speakers scheduled. More details here dorkbotsf.org/ #SanFrancisco #MissionDistrict

  4. @Bronwyn If they went to the #SPCA adoption center on Florida at 16th St, that's technically in the #MissionDistrict not on #PotreroHill, but the distinction would only matter to a "local." 😉

Back in my day, the heart of Potrero Hill was considered to be located at the top of the hill on Wisconsin between 23rd & 25th where the housing project & the rec center are located & I don't think that has changed.

It was a VERY dangerous place back then & I doubt that it's much better now.

  5. Joshua Ellingson will be demoing his unique art tonight at Artist Television Access, combining modular synthesizers with the Pepper’s Ghost illusion. These ATA talks are always worth checking out. atasite.org/?p=16404 #SanFrancisco #MissionDistrict #Synthesizer

  6. @[email protected] For over 20 years, the wall outside the old police station on Valencia Street has been a space for art, fliers, and political statements. Here’s an old SF Chronicle piece from 2005 about someone who helped keep it going: sfgate.com/opinion/article/pol #SFGraffiti #MissionDistrict #SanFrancisco

  7. A walk along Mission St:

I like being on the ‘other end’ of the Mission near the outer Mission. It gives me a sense of what the Mission probably felt like years ago.

    1. Finjan Qahwa: cute Arabic coffee shop

    2. Casa Guadalupe 3: large grocery store with Peruvian empanada at the counter including be delicious guava and cream cheese flavor

    3. If it were dinner time I would make a beeline to Mama Cholita which has some of my fave sit down Mexican food

  8. Another great #DorkbotSF coming up tomorrow. @murphlab's polyrhythmic music app and MIDI sequencer, Bryan Day's handmade instruments, and art from @rudytheelder. All ages at the @monkeybrains warehouse in the Mission District. dorkbotsf.org/ #MissionDistrict #SanFrancisco #Dorkbot

  9. “Elon empowers Pedos”

Posters stating “Grok creates AI child porn” and “Elon empowers pedos” are appearing all around the Mission District in San Francisco. There’s no information on who is behind these posters, but there is a link to this recent Wired.com story about the huge amount of child sexual abuse material that Grok is making on a daily basis.

spotted on Mission Street near 29th st in San Francisco.

Although the posters are clearly targeting X / Twitter / Grok, the poster design is clearly referencing Facebook’s classic “Move fast and break things” era typography. These new posters are using a darker shade of orange, probably for higher contrast, but it sure has that same feel to it.

I used that same exact color/font combo when designing my “Move purposefully and fix things” stickers in 2018.
