  1. I've just discovered that there's to be no more Digging For Britain:

This has been the only truely sensible programme on the BBC for some time and Alice has been the uniquely perfect presenter. Strictly speaking she ought really to be running the #BBC by now.

  2. So I was watching an episode of the latest series of Digging For Britain and Meg Russell came on and... her hair! I love that bright red, I'll do that to mine one day. One day...

(this photo doesn't do the colours justice at all, btw)

  3. Czy moglibyśmy mieć już w Polsce taki program tv o #archeologia jak #TimeTeam albo #DiggingforBritain? Czy będę skazany na wieczne oglądanie brytyjskich wykopalisk a nie polskich?

  4. Always sad when a #DiggingForBritain series ends. It's my happy place show. Thanks to @profaliceroberts.bsky.social and the team for making it. #Archaeology

  5. So #diggingforbritain S6: E2: llondinium with remains of wooden structures up to shoulder height? Absolutely amazing

  6. Prof Roberts using “C.E.” for dates in her #DiggingForBritain script, but the graphics dept still using “A.D.”. :-/ #archaeology

  7. "It has a silver-and-gilt hilt, with a decorative pattern in fine craftsmanship, and a blade bearing a runic script. Even elements of its leather-and-wood scabbard and the beaver fur that lined it have also survived. Attached to its pommel is a ring, perhaps symbolising an oath to a king or another high-status individual."

  8. After the #DiggingForBritain cameras stopped rolling last summer in Forty Hall, we discovered a building with a very deep rubble-filled cellar, possibly within our elusive Tudor palace gatehouse.
The rubble was so deep we were unable to safely excavate it completely with the time remaining, but did get a tantalizing glimpse of this octagonal pillar base, probably a support for the cellar ceiling.
We'll be back from July 7th-21st to get to the bottom of this new building.
