  1. Is the sky supposed to be maroon (y/n)
And which #wildfire is this from? I can't figure out the source of these clouds over #DavisCA

  2. "The plan is to visit the locations where Julie Veress, Trisha Yasay, and Lincoln Sabini were killed. Then we will build a community memorial in a central location to bring visibility to cyclist deaths."

  3. Businesses close and families struggle through Davis power outages

Even relatively small solar panel and battery setups can be helpful in power outage emergencies. If you can afford them (and prices have gone way down in the last decade while efficiency has gone up), add them to your emergency supplies.

  4. You probably already know, but beware high winds, Aggies. #DavisCA #CAwx

  5. UC Davis student remembered as friends and family push for safer bike lanes

They don't mention the driver responsible for this one. They don't mention that it was a UC Davis employee driver who killed Tris Yasay...

  6. Shows some of my commute to the almond orchards.

Doesn't show the many ableisms of UC Davis cycle infrastructure that UC Access Now worked to get the university to respond to.

  7. If you live near Davis, California and need to sell your bike, trailer, or other cycle-related things and are overwhelmed with dealing with lowballers and timewasters, you can help an elementary school out by consigning it instead. Read the details.

If you're in the market for a used cycle, this is a great place to pick one up, especially if you ride recumbents. There's not as much competition to buy those so you get them for less $.

  8. You can see in the replies that folks question whether Jones is actually progressive. So I post this just to get people to think about the upcoming election and start researching. (I'm no longer in this district.) #USpol #California #DavisCA

  9. It’s Time for New Leadership for our CA-4 House Seat

I don't know the challenger (and recommend folks find more info on them), but I do know that when I contacted Mike Thompson to ask that the US stop supporting the State of Israel given overwhelming evidence of genocide, he responded with a boilerplate email supporting the State of Israel.

  10. "Second Print & Zine Fest at Third Space Art Collective. thirdspacedavis.org/zinefest2026. The event will be on May 2, 12-4pm. There's a form on the page for folks that would like to sell prints/zines, due April 17. We'll also have a print show for the April Art About, and we'll have some workshops at Delta of Venus in April."

  11. Heads up to folks in the Davis/Sacramento area:

Nugget Market is now using facial recognition surveillance in its stores according to someone who posted to a campus list I'm on.

Another reason to join Davis Food Co-op (although I hear the security presence there is also up...but at least Co-op members have the ability to vote a board out and give feedback that is listened to). #DavisCA #Privacy #Surveillance

  12. "The annual Eugene Lunn Memorial Lecture will be delivered by Pulitzer prize-winning historian and journalist Anne Applebaum on Monday, February 9, 2026, from 4-6 pm at the Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art. The event (including reception) is free and open to the public.

Her talk, “Autocracy, Inc. — or Democrats United?” is based on her most recent book, the bestselling Autocracy, Inc. (2025)."

  13. UC Davis Aggies should join the Davis Food Co-op (they have a student membership). What gigantic grocery store would provide for the community like this?

You don't have to be a member to join this holiday meal, but if you can afford to be a member, you're supporting this and other things at your community cooperative grocery.

"We will also have a coat drive at the event. Anyone who needs a coat or two is welcome to take one.

If you are not able to attend during the event hours, we have partnered again with Davis Night Market. They will be collecting leftover food from the meal and distributing it at Central Park later that evening."

  14. "Aggie Alert: UC Davis dispatchers’ capacity to hear incoming landline calls has been fully restored. More info: ucdavis.edu/warnme " #DavisCA #California

  15. ATT has been trying HARD to mess up landlines in the Davis area to get people to voluntarily dump them because they resent meeting their CPUC requirements. I wonder if that has anything to do with this?

"Aggie Alert: Due to a technical problem, UC Davis emergency dispatchers cannot consistently hear incoming calls from landlines. Dispatchers are returning all calls, but callers are urged to use cellphones while we work to resolve the issue. More info: ucdavis.edu/warnme " #DavisCA #California

  16. @ascentale @[email protected] @bikenite A5. In #DavisCA, I was definitely one of those people due to the #CargoQuad. When/if I get a recumbent trike, I will probably be that person in Albania...there are not that many recumbents in the country that aren't just passing through. And I assume they're passing through. I haven't seen a single one in my months here.

I missed getting a photo, but there was a guy in Pogradec who had his cycle decorated with lots of vintage lights like Quadrophenia. #BikeNite

  17. Shit, I can see the Davis Vanguard has been using AI slop illustrations. They prioritized expansion of their various programs to other cities but apparently paying actual illustrators was a bridge too far. #AISlop #DavisCA

  18. "There's a launch party this evening from 5:30-9 for a brand new freedge! Join us at the Davis Bike Collective (4th & L) to learn about mutual aid efforts and connect with the Quaker community, who has stepped up to host this free food resource for our community. This is a great time to get involved in the fight against food insecurity (especially given shaky SNAP benefits, thanks to the current administration).

Donations will go towards the Freedge network, the Davis Bike Collective, and our talented musicians :)

If you can't make it tonight but would still like to support the freedges:
    - send a donation over venmo (@TheFreedge)
    - reach out over email ([email protected])" #DavisCA #MutualAid #BikeTooter

  19. Hey, UC Davis Aggies, City of Davis is doing a website redesign and is looking for community input.

If you have any accessibility or other concerns, now's the time to speak up.

"The City of Davis invites community members to take a short survey, open from Oct. 27 to Nov. 21, 2025, to inform the redesign and improvement of the City’s official website. The survey can be accessed at: surveymonkey.com/r/DavisWebsit "

  20. @ascentale @wesley @bikenite A2. I see all sorts of things that would be hard to see from inside a speeding car. I got lost trying to ride somewhere new in Davis one day and discovered a rich part of town that was its own enclave.

It demonstrated the kinds of things that the rich vote to take from others, but loooooove reserving for themselves. It had a very neighborhood feel, a community bulletin board, more green space, less auto traffic, etc. #BikeNite #DavisCA

  21. It’s #Groadtober 6th and the 24th anniversary of this show at the DAM House in #DavisCA arranged by some connected to #KDVS

We were just wrapping up our weirdest tour ever (we departed on Sept 7, 2001 so a lot of the shows we played were the first shows that really happened in the towns we stopped in after 9/11).

Always a treat to play a show with a band George Chen is involved with.

  22. Woodland, California is looking for a Conservation Coordinator.

The Conservation Coordinator will prepare, implement, and manage a wide variety of environmental programs in the areas of:
    Integrated Waste Management
    Water Conservation
    Resource Efficiency & Sustainability
