‘Information literacy: social class perspectives — at LILAC 2024’: https://www.preater.com/2024/04/19/information-literacy-social-class-perspectives-at-lilac-2024/
We’ve written a follow-up blog post for our @Infolitgroup #lilac24 panel to address more of the themes, comments and questions that we couldn't cover on the day.
Huge thanks to the contributors to our Padlet ahead of time and in the session. Our call to action is for all of us, regardless of social class background, to continue these conversations in our own libraries and communities.

A few years ago over on the dear old birdsite I asked if there are any library strategic plans that reference critical information literacy, or critical librarianship.
My finest librarianly searching has not found any more since. Does anyone know of any? (Other than University of West London - keeping it real! 💙)

#introduction. I'm Andrew, a library director in London, UK.
I'm interested in how libraries can support equity and widening participation in higher education, working-class lived experience of HE, critical theories of library and education practice, and library leadership informed by #Critlib movement.
My background was originally in systems, with a strong interest in Free Software. I prefer Slackware as my OS.
Outside work, I am a randonneur (audax cyclist), mostly fixed wheel.

@rowmyboat It's not my area of expertise, but the segregated libraries of the American South are examples of both! #LibraryLife #CritLib

At #CALC23 we'll explore libraries as sites of classed marginalisation and exclusion and our experiences as HE workers, but also celebrate the value of working-class cultural capital using Yosso's concept of community cultural wealth.
We'll be a bit Bourdieusian and very #Critlib.
We want library workers of working-class heritage to know you are seen and this is for you. 🧡

"Help us build community with fellow lefty library workers by helping us build a 'left track' of programming for those attending #ALA. Let us know about sessions that will highlight worker organizing in libraries, social justice themes, and libraries as essential public goods."

please boost! ! The Queer Metadata Collective is looking for feedback from #catalogers #metadata workers #critcat #critlib #archivists #dh #histsex folks on questions or dillemmas they have encountered while describing individuals/communities/items
Some hypotheticals from working groups:
Classification:
* Some classification systems separate books about gay, lesbian, bisexual (etc) groups into different areas of the library. Should local practices override that in order to group them together? -

I'm at #QueerBibliography @ the Senate House Library! I'm really excited for this conference and I'm really excited for my paper, which extends the impossible/archival imaginaries proposed by @professorcaz and Gilliand and proposes a queered Metadatic Imaginary. #critcat #critlib
#QueerBibliography will be great but also very challenging for me; it'll be sad to not be able to communicate with the other attendees (it's all masked) but I'm glad that everyone is staying safe. 💕
