  1. #Bales2023FilmChallenge December 19: hard candy for #NationalHardCandyDay

#CornellWoolrich's haunting tales of childhood lost leaped from Ireland to #Argentina in #CarlosHugoChristensen's Si muero antes de despertar (1952). With similarities of Lang's M (1931), this fairy-tale feels more oppressive; due to the helplessness of a boy's power in an adult world and his understanding of grown-up responsibilities ☞ write.underworld.fr/settima/si

  2. Umberto Lenzi's Seven Blood-Stained Orchids (1972) is sometimes seen as a very late krimi but it's more of a giallo. It was based on Cornell Woolrich’s novel Rendezvous in Black. It's fairly clued and it ticks the right giallo boxes.

  3. I think this post is now the one with the largest amount of interactions I got. 😂

So, umm, read #CornellWoolrich (Well, can't blame a guy for trying.)

  4. I love old style paperbacks and yes I have bought (and judged!) books by their cover.

One of my favourite authors is Cornell Woolrich, probably one of the most enigmatic classic crime authors. With a series of books all carrying "black" in its title, he literally defined Noir.

Also love the crime fiction of Fredric Brown who is nowadays mainly known for his Science Fiction (that I like but not obsess about that much).
