  1. Not sure why there is zero coverage of this, but record low #water levels are not just happening to #rivers in Europe (Rhine, Danube), it is also happening in the UK. While I took that picture at low tide, I have never seen the #Thames being so low. And bear in mind some of that is hidden by the tidal nature of the river too. I would love to have better #media coverage of those #drought river markers you only find on government websites gov.uk/government/publications

  2. Absolute genius idea in #Calais to keep the streets cool during a #heatwave: borrowed from the Spanish villages where women crochet canopies (Alhaurín de la Torre), this is the recycled #plastic version. A light structure that makes a delighful leaf-like sound when wind blows through.

  3. #ClimateDiaries Meanwhile, with #Wildfires burning everywhere, floods, hailstorms, droughts, failed harvests, heatwaves and 10,000s of deathts right now: new commercial flying records set 23rd July 2026, with more flights in air at once than ever before.

#ClimateDiary (don’t know what happened there, above!)

  4. #climatediaries: my friends near #Bordeaux were evacuated in the night, taking with them their 2 #cats. Their house is in the direct path of the #fire & they are waiting to see if their entire life savings go up in flames. A friend on leave left them her house, so they didn't have to stay in a community hall overnight.
My Madrid friend hasn't replied yet.

No one laughs at the idea of #climaterefugees in the West anymore. Have we woken up to #climatebreakdown yet?

  5. It is 72° F (~22° C) and sunny in Richmond, VA. I'm doing yardwork and wearing shorts because of how warm it is out. Today is November 9, 2025

Yes, this is a milder region than where I've lived previously (Wisconsin, Colorado). But this is still way warmer than where it ought to be. Feels like early September, not the height of Fall.

  6. I haven't been to the gym at all this week because the air quality is too bad. I've barely been outside.

I miss being able to camp or exercise in the summertime. I miss kayaking and biking and running and fishing.

I hate that our summers are made of fire now. #ClimateDiaries

  7. I wanted to go hiking today, but the air quality isn't great so I guess I'll stay inside and write. Canada is on fire as usual. Sigh... #ClimateDiaries

  8. El calor no da tregua. Alguien le hizo refugio a este perrito para que pudiera echarse a ratitos. En una tienda cercana, le ponen comida y agua. #MonDog #lumito #ClimateDiaries #FaunaUrbana #FloraUrbana

  9. "There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep Sea, and music in its roar:
I love not Man the less, but Nature more."
    Lord Byron

  11. I just saw four robins. They shouldn't be here for another month or so. Poor buddies. What will they eat? They were pecking at the ground, but it's too soon for bugs and worms. It's -11 today. #ClimateDiaries #migration #robins #birds

  12. There's been a bit of a dawn chorus striking up the last few days here, it's warmer than usual at this time of year but it's almost like the birds know that the solstice has passed #climatediaries

  14. Thunder and lightning here. I have always loved thunderstorms. I’m grateful that this summer, although too hot, is not too dry. It’s rained here once or twice a week, which is a huge improvement over the droughts of the past few years. It also means I can breathe. The wildfires seem to be avoiding the area. Long may it last. #ClimateDiaries

  17. This is a great way to travel through space and time, and get to know our planet better in a fun and beautifully designed way (and I can imagine it's a great tool for Earth Science teaching):

  18. There's a polar vortex affecting France right now. It should be really cold, the coldest temperatures since 2018. But in central France (Morvan National Park) it's only -5°C and there's about 1 cm of snow. This place used to have a lot of snow every winter #ClimateDiaries #ClimateChange

  20. Why is the AQI so bad right now? It’s raining. Usually that makes the air better. #AQI #ClimateDiaries

  21. Westerners ostensibly on the left recreating the same racist mistake as their paler countryfellows talking about global migration from climate change as something only impacting the "global North" negatively because you can't open a map and see the geographical proximity between North Africa and Western Europe* for example is the factor why it's actually territorially closer countries in the "global south" that bear the brunt of climate refugees. Westerners.

*Feel free to examine the distance between bordering North American territories taking turns to be on fire as well.

  22. Today is my first birthday when I’ll have to wear a mask to sit out in my yard. #ClimateDiaries #RespiratoryDisease

  23. The air quality is finally good enough for me to go outdoors without a mask. Long may it last. #ClimateDiaries #CanadianWildfires

  24. While the police arrest just stop oil protesters, I've just spoken to my sister who lives on the edge of the Campsies near Glasgow. There is a 5 mile wide wildfire going on right now, but you wouldn't known it from the usual news sources.

  25. So Spring finally visited Lahore after 2 whole years of relentless heatwaves.

Im not going to get into how its also been unseasonally wet and cold and damaging to hundreds of acres of crops.

Im just glad I got to see these blooms on my rooftop after a looooooong time:

  26. Kitchener is the only place where I’ve ever seen lightning during snowstorms. That’s what’s happening right now. So weird. #ClimateDiary #ClimateDiaries #snowstorm #Lightning #ThunderSnow #Kitchener

  27. I saw my first robin of the year yesterday. The mild winter has migrating birds returning too soon. Canada geese have been coming back early, too. There’s a winter storm coming later this week, and I’m afraid the confused birds will die. #ClimateCatastrophe #birds #migration #winter #FalseSpring #ClimateDiaries #ClimateDiary
