"Based on the principles of prudence, reliability, and absolute safety, and after comprehensive assessment, the Chang'e-7 mission does not meet the launch requirements," says https://www.cmse.gov.cn/xwzx/202608/t20260823_57750.html, "and cannot be carried out within the scheduled launch window this year." That is all! Observers believe that bad weather in combination with worsening geometrical factors is the reason #ChangE7 was grounded: https://arstechnica.com/space/2026/08/due-to-need-for-absolute-success-china-delays-critical-moon-launch-to-2027/ and https://www.space.com/space-exploration/launches-spacecraft/bad-weather-delays-launch-of-chinas-historic-change-7-mission-to-moons-south-pole

🇨🇳 Most likely, Sunday’s delayed launch was due to Typhoon 🌀 Narra. Another suitable launch window may possibly not open until next 📆 February or March https://nextspaceflight.com/launches/details/4723/

#ChangE7 will land in the South Pole regions of the #Moon to study lunar surface environment around the South Pole, especially looking for water ice 🧊 in lunar soil.

In all of #NASA’s and #China’s plans for long-term settlement on the #Moon, relatively few square miles at the South Pole of the Moon matter the most.
As soon as this Sunday, a #LongMarch5 rocket will launch from a coastal seaport in China, carrying the #ChangE7 lunar exploration mission.
This will likely serve as a wake-up call ⏰ to those not paying attention to the #US-China space race - which, to be clear, is the vast majority of #Americans.

Sunday, August 23rd at 12:00 AM UTC Is Lift Off for China's Chang'e 7 mission which will explore the Moon's south pole, targeting the rim of Shackleton Crater. Its main goal is to search for water ice hidden inside permanently shadowed craters: https://bsky.app/profile/chinaspace.bsky.social/post/3mrs2o737ds2z - #ChangE7 will include an orbiter, lander, rover and a unique hopping probe that can leap into dark craters no rover can reach.

And then there's China's Chang’e and India's Chandrayaan. The military powers appear to be racing to claim what they can.(In their arrogance, none of them have asked God for his permission or blessing.)
