I've just donated to this fundraiser to support Voice of America workers and contributors, who are affected by funding cuts and legal battles. Many of the people affected are under actual danger of deportation to hostile foreign regimes, who will attack them because of their journalism work.

VOA / RFA / RFE is, for many places around the world, the only way for people to get real information about their own country. And, now more than ever, the work VOA did is becoming relevant in America as well. The anti journalism playbook used against VOA is also coming to American domestic media.

For techies: the donation here also supports staff from the Open Technology Fund, which sponsors many censorship circumvention technologies (such as Tor) and which also has a FOSS fund. They were also defunded along with VOA.
