This is the first hanging system for paintings I have tried. It works nicely on stretched canvas paintings as a sturdy yet affordable hanger. I am aiming to try other hanging systems in the future,if you have any advice, please, let me know. 🙂

Leisurely Swim

Here is a close up of some of those ducks again. I've gone through my field guides and am ready to make a guess. My guess is that these are Canvasback ducks (Aythya valisineria) with some genetic variations. I'm basing my guess on location, shape, and mostly the color and shape of their bills.

"Often called the aristocrat of ducks, the Canvasback holds its long sloping forehead high with a distinguished look. Males stand out with a rusty head and neck and a gleaming whitish body bookended in black. Females are pale brown overall, but that Canvasback head shape still gives them away. This diving duck eats plant tubers at the bottom of lakes and wetlands. It breeds in lakes and marshes and winters by the thousands on freshwater lakes and coastal waters." - allaboutbirds.org

Our luck was not done (see last post) as we went onto to an industrial / business estate in Colchester to see an excellent species of bird that I'd not seen in the UK since 2017. The magnificent Bohemian Waxwing. What is not too like about these birds???

Dozens of #SandhillCrane flying into a marsh filled with more Sandhill cranes. From #SauvieIsland, just north of Portland where the #WillametteRiver flows into the #ColumbiaRiver. We were fortunate to be there between rain showers. We also had excellent views of #BaldEagle, #HarrierHawk, #Kestrel, #SnowGoose, #Shoveler, #Widgeon, #CanvasBack, #Coot, #Swan, #Egret, and #GreatBlueHeron.
