Visiting Koll Center Wetlands in Beaverton today, the full aquatic contingent was out on the lake: #Mallard #Gadwall #GreenWingedTeal #NorthernShoveler #RingNeckedDuck #RuddyDuck #Bufflehead #PiedBilledGrebe #AmericanCoot. Stalking the shallow margins, #GreatEgret in pure white and #GreatBlueHeron in shaggy gray. #BeltedKingfisher rattling from a snag, and #BlackPhoebe flitting from perch to perch with high sweet little cries. Happy to get this photo of a #BlackPhoebe this morning. Passerines are hard with my setup - i.e. find a bird perched in the open, get the spotting scope focused on it, dig out my phone, open the camera app, hold the phone Just.. Right... in front of the eyepiece so the camera catches the magnified image without giant black blobs invading it too badly, click and hope my hand didn't wobble. By which time most self respecting songbirds are LONG gone. Thank you for posing, small tyrant!

@faerye It is a Black Phoebe. They like perching above ponds and slow watercourses. Black upper parts, white belly, pale outer tail feathers if you look closely. Nice sighting! They are becoming more common here as range expands northward. #BlackPhoebe
