Originally a #webcomic on #Tapastic (as was) now #Tapas back in 2017, #ChelseaFuredi’s gripping tale #ProjectNought has been turned into a full #GraphicNovel. Despite the #SciFi label, this is intrinsically about affinities and characters growing together. There is a surprise twist, so I am being careful about my comments. This is a quick, well-paced read with gorgeous #artwork. I ordered my copy back in February from and prior to the demise of #BookDepository (taken over & subsumed by *m*z*n).

So #Amazon is closing #BookDepository. This follows on the heals of them announcing they're shuttering #DPReview last week. Both well-regarded and well-patronised companies.
Perish the thought that a pattern might be developing, but if you are a regular patron of any of the following, you might want to start thinking about alternatives:

A very sad day for book lovers & for staff at the Book Depository
Parent companies are all very well - they especially help in times of need.
This is until they themselves have to make cutbacks, then they toss you aside like fodder.

@decryption This is going to have a huge impact on us in NZ. I bulk buy textbooks from bookdepository. Because of the free delivery they are always cheaper than Amazon. Great. Monopoly rules again.

A reminder that ebooks, as commonplace as they are in the U.S., are not everyone's preferred reading medium.

Honestly shocked that Book Depository is closing.
Sure, Amazon bought them up a long time ago, but they haven't folded the site into their offerings & BD offers a lot that Amazon doesn't - mostly the free shipping to many many countries, and the good selection of Western European titles that are much harder to get shipped abroad any other way...
