  13. Jan Fehse – „Geliefert“ (2019)

(ARD, Wh.)

  22. "Shipping and taxes calculated at checkout" -
Just f*ing stop this bullshit! You already know the items in the cart and the country. This isn't the US where the taxes and possibly delivery fees change every couple of miles. Give me the prices including taxes and customs and the delivery fee right then and there in the shopping cart. I'm sure you can spare the few CPU cycles to calculate them.

  26. EU drops a hammer on Google.

EU rules Google violated the Digital Markets Act (DMA) by giving priority to its own services, such as shopping and hotel deals, in search results over those of its rivals and lays down a $1B fine on the company.

Second, Google has been preventing app developers from steering consumers towards cheaper offers, including for subscriptions, on websites or alternative app stores.

    Indications are Google is working on changes to comply. theguardian.com/technology/202 #Google #EU #Fine #DMA #Search #Internet #AppStore #PlayStore #Regulation #Competition #Shopping #OnlineShopping

  29. I fucking hate it that online shopping websites listen to keystrokes instead of letting the browser do that.

The Home key should take the cursor to the start of the field; the End key to the end of the field. CTRL-U on Linux should clear the field. Fucksake.

  30. CW: Rant about online shopping, tech, and AI

Currently trying to buy new wireless in-ear headphones and it's an absolute nightmare. Every online shop has become a marketplace which incentivizes sellers to put wrong metadata so that their products appear in all search results.

Facetted search is completely broken: Bluetooth appears as an option in multiple different facets (special features, connector, type of transmission). For some reason, wireless has fewer results than Bluetooth. How?

But fear not, AI shopping assistants are there for the rescue.

And, of course, all products look like Airpods with that stem pointing downwards for absolutely no reason. To lead the imaginary wire in the right direction, I guess.
