Last Friday 14 August 2026, a swimming afternoon for Black children and young people at the Volksbad had to be cancelled.

Not because it was unlawful — but because of racist threats, hate emails and a coordinated media campaign that made it impossible to guarantee the kids‘ safety.

Even though the Volksbad was previously successfully booked exclusively for numerous groups, when EOTO, an afro-disaporic organization tried to book a few hours for black youth, the reaction was different.

Safe spaces for Black youth are explicitly protected as a „positive measure“ under Berlin’s State Anti-Discrimination Act (LADG) and the federal AGG.

But a right on paper means nothing if it can be bulldozed by threats and hate. That is exactly what happened here.

Am vergangenen Freitag, dem 14. August 2026, musste ein Schwimmnachmittag für schwarze Kinder und Jugendliche im Volksbad abgesagt werden.

Nicht, weil er rechtswidrig gewesen wäre – sondern wegen rassistischer Drohungen, Hass-E-Mails und einer koordinierten Medienkampagne, die es unmöglich machten, die Sicherheit der Kinder zu gewährleisten.

Obwohl das Volksbad zuvor bereits mehrfach erfolgreich exklusiv für zahlreiche Gruppen gebucht worden war, fiel die Reaktion anders aus, als EOTO, eine Organisation der afro-diasporischen Gemeinschaft, versuchte, einige Stunden für schwarze Jugendliche zu buchen.

Sichere Räume für schwarze Jugendliche sind als „positive Maßnahme“ gemäß dem Berliner Landesantidiskriminierungsgesetz (LADG) und dem bundesweiten AGG ausdrücklich geschützt.

Doch ein Recht auf dem Papier bedeutet nichts, wenn es durch Drohungen und Hass zunichte gemacht werden kann. Genau das ist hier geschehen.

El FBI acusó a las "Panteras Negras" de ser una amenaza por alimentar a más niños que el Estado.
A finales de los años 60 en Estados Unidos en medio de la segregación racial, pobreza estructural y abandono estatal en los barrios de las personas de color, las "Panteras Negras" identificaron que el hambre era (por supuesto) una herramienta de control y sumisión. Ellos se dieron cuenta de que si los niños de su barrio no comían, no podían aprender y por ende no podrían organizarse ni defenderse de los ataques sociales.
A causa de esto y como respuesta, el grupo creó el movimiento "Free Breakfast for Children Program" liderado por *Huey Newton* y *Bobby Seale*, empezando en California en 1969 y después extendiéndose por diversos Estados de USA. La dinámica era simple: llegar a un barrio y tocar las puertas de los hogares por la mañana para que los niños salieran a desayunar antes de ir a la escuela. En el punto más avanzado del programa (a solo 1 año de haberse creado) llegaron a alimentar más de 20.000 niños al día!, alimentando más niños que el mismo gobierno (por mucho).
Por supuesto esto empezó a incomodar al aparato gubernamental, y a apenas unos meses de haberse creado el programa, el Director del FBI, el paranoico *Edgar Hoover* los señaló de "ser una gran amenaza para la seguridad de Estados Unidos", identificando principalmente el programa de los desayunos como un acto "sumamente peligroso". Pero ¿cual era el gran peligro que el FBI y el gobierno veían?. La increíble organización ciudadana y la ruptura con la visión hegemonica controlada que atacaba directamente la escasez artificial que el capitalismo genera para mantenerse como sistema dominante.
El programa duró sobre 5 años, ya que el FBI comenzó a hacer redadas masivas, arrestos y a esparcir rumores (obviamente falsos) sobre la comida que se repartía. Una de las cosas más oscuras de estos hechos fue el asesinato de *Fred Hampton*, uno de los líderes del movimiento que fue asesinado mientras dormía. Casi al mismo tiempo también mataron a *Mark Clark* (otro de sus lideres) durante una redada.
Todo esto vuelve a poner en evidencia la fragilidad con la que el sistema capitalista puede ser amenazado y cómo siempre buscará suprimir la organización ciudadana para mantenerse. Jamás olvides que el Estado y su fuerza policial solo trabajan hacia los intereses del capital y harán todo lo necesario para cumplir sus objetivos.

‘Dama do Reggae’ leva sua força ao Psica 2025

A artista que cantou Mama África e subiu ao palco do The Town 2025 ao lado da cantora Iza, é frequentemente chamada de a ‘Dama do Reggae’ brasileiro. Nascida em São Luís em 1964, Célia Sampaio é uma cantora, compositora e ativista cultural reconhecida como uma das maiores referências femininas do gênero no país. Ao longo da carreira fez parcerias com nomes importantes da música popular brasileira como Alcione, Chico César, Zeca Baleiro e Leci Brandão, e mantém atuação forte em movimentos culturais negros no Maranhão, motivos esses mais do que suficientes para torná-la uma das principais atrações do Festival Psica 2025, que ocorre nos dias 12, 13 e 14 de dezembro no Estádio do Mangueirão em Belém, no Pará, com ingressos à venda pela internet.

Célia foi a primeira mulher a gravar um álbum de reggae no país, e além da música, mantém práticas artísticas/craft (costura ligada a elementos africanos) junto de rituais de matriz africana em suas apresentações, carregando em sua obra a força da resistência negra. Um dos maiores marcos de sua carreira é o álbum Diferente (2000), onde consolidou sua carreira solo e apresentou a faixa Black Power, uma canção que a tornou um fenômeno musical.

Esse ano, a artista lançou o EP Eparrey (2025), em homenagem à orixá Iansã, simbolizando ancestralidade, feminino, espiritualidade, e resistência por meio da mistura de reggae com influências afro-brasileiras.

Carreira e trajetória

Iniciou sua carreira musical na Década de 1980, integrando a banda Guethos, uma das pioneiras do reggae nacional e conquistou o título de ‘Dama do Reggae’ por sua significativa contribuição ao gênero, trajetória essa que foi representada no documentário Ginga Reggae na Jamaica Brasileira (2024), dirigido por Naýra Albuquerque, onde reforça o seu papel de pesquisadora e guardiã da história do reggae no Maranhão, não só como cantora, mas como memória viva.

Sua trajetória musical é carregada pelos movimentos afro/carnavalescos locais (exemplo disso, é sua participação no primeiro bloco afro do estado, Akomabu). Formada também em enfermagem e atuante direta como artesã, em 2020 foi indicada ao Prêmio Grão de Música e segue influenciando a cena musical com sua voz marcante e o compromisso com a valorização da cultura afro-brasileira, mantendo-se ativa em apresentações e na produção de novos trabalhos.

Além das clássicas Black Power e Ayabá Rainha, entre os vários destaques da sua carreira, em 2021, lançou uma parceria com Luiz Fernando Linhares, denominada Pegada Negra, onde mostra seu reggae mais contemporâneo e com uma produção mais atual.

Azul Beleza e Dama Black são músicas bastante representativas de Célia, fazendo parte da sua seleção musical mais conhecida. Seu primeiro álbum solo, Diferente, inclui composições de renomados artistas maranhenses como Zé Lopes, Paulinho Akomabu, Alê Muniz e Mano Borges. O disco lhe rendeu o Prêmio Universidade FM, um dos mais importantes da música maranhense.

Recentemente, Célia Sampaio tem se dedicado a projetos que celebram o feminino e a cultura afro-brasileira. Em março de 2023, apresentou o show Ela no Centro Cultural Vale Maranhão (CCVM), interpretando a canção homônima baseada em poema de Maria Firmina dos Reis, musicado por Socorro Lira. Em novembro do mesmo ano, realizou um espetáculo no Reviver Hostel ao lado de Flávia Bittencourt e Socorro Lira, promovendo um encontro musical feminino único.

Com presença de palco magnética e interpretação intensa, Célia emociona e mobiliza plateias ao lado de sua banda. Seu show combina força e delicadeza, apresentando uma artista que traduz em música a potência da mulher negra no Brasil. No Psica, Célia Sampaio entrega um espetáculo de energia e mensagem, conectando o público a uma experiência de raiz, afeto e resistência e trazendo ao palco seu EP Eparrey.
