  1. For #AntarcticaDay here are a few photos from my last visit, on RV Polarstern three years ago. At the end of that trip I didn't know when or if I would return. Now I have a plan to return this season - watch this space.
This is also a timely opportunity to remind everyone that over previous years we have set up a range of outreach and educational resources on the International #ThwaitesGlacier Collaboration website at

  2. Sunday was #AntarcticaDay, marking the signing of the Antarctic Treaty! ❄️🌍

This week in our "In The Spotlight" series, we feature 🇺🇦 researcher Anastasiia Chyhareva, who’s braved the icy continent on multiple field campaigns!

  5. The end of #spring - The month of November in the South Atlantic - data from: #Copernicus #Sentinel3 #OLCI #EUMETSAT ; inspired by seeing #Antarcticaday yesterday

  6. 63 years ago today, 12 countries signed an unprecedented disarmament agreement at the height of the Cold War. #Antarctica is a model of what international partnership for climate action could be, and a reminder of why it's so necessary. This #AntarcticaDay, I'm grateful the continent is dedicated to peaceful pursuits and hopeful we can apply the same spirit of peace, discovery, and cooperation to the rest of the world. @antarctica

  7. Happy #AntarcticaDay!

We had a fantastic symposium on the future of #polar work at @UTAS_ today, and to top it off I just pressed SEND on my book manuscript 📚

(on "Brand Antarctica," watch this space...)

  8. The #CopernicusAtmosphere Monitoring Service 5-day forecast of total column ozone over the #SouthPole initialized on 1 December 00 UTC showing the final stages(?) of the 2022 #OzoneHole as it drifts away from the pole and gradually disappearing. This has been the third year in a row of the ozone hole persisting throughout November due to cold and persistent #Polar Vortex.
