The Stacked Deck

I am the last man alive on the Titanic.
Do they commemorate rote chivalry?
Did they notice in the lifeboats
as I was savaged by the ravenous sea?

Into choking darkness, I fell tumbling,
The ship’s name eaten up in black,
Freezing water smothered my lungs;
Even if found, there’s no way back.

Women and children first, they said!
Our end certain as the sinking prow,
Would mothers now nobly step aside
to grant my final resting place somehow?

Classless wine, champagne bottles bobbed;
Numb fingers clasped at Old World pleasantries.
From the mass grave: “Tomb it may concern…”
The guilty waves murmur my eulogies.

Je suis impatient de visiter l'#exposition https://museepontaven.fr/expositions/au-temps-de-camille-claudel-etre-sculptrice-a-paris/ consacrée notamment à Camille Claudel au musée de Pont-Aven.
Je garde un très bon souvenir de la visite de l'exposition Camille Claudel au musée des Jacobins en 1993 à Morlaix. Je me revois encore m'accroupir pour voir La vague "d'en bas" comme ses 3 petits personnages 😊
En 2008, au #Groenland N.E., cette partie d'#iceberg m'a fait penser, à l'époque et encore aujourd'hui, aux mains, vues sous un certain angle, de l'implorante du groupe L'âge mûr.
J'ai hâte !

This lucky one was climbing to the top of the iceberg. A few seconds after she climbed off, the iceberg broke in half.

Мне поручили пересобрать витрину в ходе миграции в наше новое хранилище данных. Итак, в этой статье мы будем: — строить Iceberg-таблицы SCD-2 с помощью Trino, SQL и Python; — попутно освоим прекрасные функции merge, MD5 и другие полезные инструменты; — напишем свой собственный оператор для Airflow для автоматизации ETL-процесса.

Вы слышали о Kafka , MQTT , S3 , Iceberg , Trino , PostgreSQL , Redis и Flink ? А насколько хорошо вы знаете эти технологии? По каждой из них написаны огромные книги («Kafka: The Definitive Guide», около 800 страниц), и каждый день выходят новые публикации про тонкости. Эта статья про другое. Вместо внутренностей движков и законов распределённых систем посмотрим на эти технологии как на кубики LEGO: какую роль каждая из них играет в архитектуре и как они стыкуются друг с другом. Это будет практический туториал: начнём с минимальной конфигурации и постепенно соберём сложную систему. Статью можно просто читать как обзор архитектуры, а можно запускать каждую конфигурацию и изучать её в деталях. Для этого достаточно Git , Git LFS и Docker Compose . Всё запускается в контейнерах. Даже примеры на Java собираются через Docker multi-stage build .

Понимание того, как Iceberg организует свои метаданные, отделяет уровень «я умею создавать таблицы» от уровня «я умею разбираться, почему мои запросы медленные, а объём хранилища разрастается». Это фундамент для всего остального в серии. Если вы разберётесь с четырьмя слоями модели метаданных Iceberg, любая фича (time travel, эволюция схемы, эволюция партиций, компактизация) будет восприниматься интуитивно.
