It certainly isn't, we can save it by creating a open social web with atproto, the one we on right now with Bluesky/activity pub and other open decentralised protocols! #Bluesky #atproto #ATmosphere #activityhub

Did you know that @nodebb is now fully integrated into #fediverse by making #activityhub, the protocol used in fediverse, a core function of nodeBB?

What I really want from Fedi is a single home for my identity, an #ActivityHub if you will, and all these great services like #BookWyrm and #Mastodon and #Eleventy / #Hugo / #Wordpress / whatever are just clients that are really good at creating/consuming certain types of activities.
Is anyone working on something like this?

IIf Meta truly joins Fediverse/Mastodon (ActivityPub), from my perspective, it means there are potential data risks in Fediverse, and lots of people might abandon Mastodon, including myself. 💢
Will keep looking into it.:ablobbonebeacon:
I'm going to stick with the decentralized approach, and #WireMin is still a quiet place for me. At least now it looks safe.:blobbonecry: #mastodom #activityhub #instagram #meta -
@rolle I’ve been thinking about this a fair bit, and I think that this is an opportunity for the #Fediverse; if Facebook wants to build a twitter competitor that interacts with everyone else, great, because we get to show them what social media is like *without* algorithms or ads.
Clearly, "we” won’t put up with Meta ads or tracking of *us*, and I don’t know enough about how #ActivityHub works to know if we can stop/control that behaviour.

"Any time you sign up for a new social app, you won’t have to rebuild your audience or re-find all your friends; your whole following and followers list come with you. Those things should be part of the internet, not part of an app."

I've spun up an Akkoma instance as a test base. Ignore any follows from it for now. I might move across later, but at the moment I'm not planning to just yet.
Plus this post is a test to see if it is federating 🙂

Imagine if the browser wars of the late 90s resulted in Netscape and Microsoft each having their own version of HTML protocols. So each new website would have to decide which universe they wanted to be in before designing their site, and could only link to other sites in the same Netscape Internet or the Explorer internet. That's where we are today with social media. It's a hellscape.
Thank goodness for #Mastodon, #Fediverse, and open protocols like #ActivityHub and #OStatus

I am getting the hang of #ActivityHub and also the federated nature of this environment - and I do really like it. Is there (and I am sure there is) a way to visualise the #Fediverse with the various instances and how busy they are - a form of the state of the fediverse?

can I use static GitHub Pages as a ActivityHub server/-ice? I mean, statically serving the right JSON files, like static RSS files? #mastodon #github #activityhub

I'm looking to self hosted an events based social network for a local hiking club. Any ideas out there?
