Curious what the deal is with #Mastodom accounts like this (a universeodon.com account) on the #Fediverse, that is following 1,900 accounts, has 3,100 following accounts, 0 posts or replies, and is 2 days old. Enabling Approval for Follow Requests helps identify these.

I feel silence here a lot. But I agree with you. Those people might be hungry for followers count , reach etc. Honestly, this is a better place to reach audience, coz of many instances & platforms from a single place. It really have that powerful potential.
So typical algorithm driven platforms made them to think that higher impressions & followers, reach etc means actual growth. They are simply misguided by the habits from those bad algorithm driven platforms.

@crossgolf_rebel @alcea Ich sprach vom Einstieg. Du loggst dich ein und bist drin. Inzwischen ist Facebook völlig überladen, aber zu Beginn war der Dienst sehr übersichtlich. Die Leute fanden sich schnell zurecht. Vor allem jene, die technisch nicht versiert waren.
Ganz ähnlich wie AOL. Einfach drin.
Twitter war ähnlich einfach in 2009 und ist es im Grunde noch heute.
#Bluesky, #mastodom, das #feliverse, sie alle sind deutlich komplizierter zu bedienen.
Nicht einsteigerfreundlich genug ...

Ever since joining #Mastodom and the #fediverse in general, I have come to enjoy #alttext more than I did before and than I thought possible. Turns out, alt text is not only a great tool for inclusion, but even I gather so much more context and information from a well crafted alt text that I read more of them everyday. This also is an additional reason to insert good alt text in my messages and attempting to add them at work as well. Thanks for the enlightenment, dear fediverse. I have no plans on moving instances but goddamn that is like one of the worst parts of #Mastodom tbh.
I mean it's not the idea of being able to move to a different instance that's bad, but like just like the whole 'Yeah your posts don't migrate and you gotta import the people you follow cuz that doesn't migrate too' and various other little quibbles like goddamn.

Just said goodbye to Twitter. One interesting idea I read today in a discussion, with Mastodon, news sites could provide accounts to their readers and journalists in their own instances. Maybe this could be a way of giving back to their paying readers and protecting their journalists freedom of speech.

Thank goodness there are some others on here not totally unrealistically pro-EU - #Mastodom does seem to be unattractive to those on the Right (or maybe that site so many flee these days is less hostile to them? I was never a user)
It takes ages to move things - I think the next (Labour) parliament will be spent on preparing for major EU rapprochement
in the following one - hopefully with some short termm steps to get the UK closer to the EU -
