@joelanman Yep. That's one of the reasons why, after reviewing #Figma , we rejected it, and advised everyone to do the same. We want an #accessibleweb . Figma should be an #a11y . They are perfectly positioned to lead the way. And they choose differently.

Would it better to use Oʻahu even though the results won't be read properly, at least for the foreseeable future, by screen readers?
Or is there another solution that would provide better accessibility support while also being syntactically correct?
Thanks for your help!

CW: aria question
I'm working on a javascript application with a developer. The client now displays text with a text box as it comes in from the terminal, but I'd like it to be spoken by screen reader once new text arrives. Is this possible with an aria live region or is there a better way? Thought of keeping the text box for review purposes and live regioning and hiding, using aria, for sr output. I have no idea what i'm doing here but ev is super happy to help. #Accessibleweb #BBS #ftelnet

I'm working on a serious Accessible version of #MastodonBirdUI. My wife wants to use the default version, but either that or MY default has sufficient colors for her as she has a form of Achromatopsia and a serious vison impairment. Not even High contrast theme will cut it.
So I listen to her. It's not about me or what "looks good", it's what works for her and others who has these limitations. I modify and show, then modify again, show again. For me this is a bit too much, but it's not about me now.
This version will have:
- Way bigger font-sizes
- Different, fully accessible colors for hashtags, links and mentions - each have their own colors
- More space and bigger font size for compose form
- Bigger font-sizes also on mobile -
CW: accessibility meta, ownership, site redesign
The design of the DarkPi site is, admittedly, a contrivance of our own, and our sysadmin aesthetic is showing a bit.
What we don't know, however, is whether this site is accessible for assistive aids, like screen readers or other browser accessibility aids.
Going to be doing some research on this, because if I'm asking questions of your disability, knowing the topic before engaging is how we try to demonstrate respect.
However, if anyone who uses an accessibility mode for interacting with sites has immediate thoughts on that matter (regarding tools to test with, paradigms to consider, or a critique of the current presentation of the information, etc), we're listening and would be delighted to integrate your feedback.
