Fave 3D print of the week, available for personal use only on Makerworld by MakersManifest.

So the print fished and came out pretty nice. If I where to slice this again I might slow down some of the final layering due to the diagonal "pixels" are a little jank. Wish I still had a dark blue for the background as the chopper for the detail looks better than I thought it would. Pretty cool with a little bit of work you can go from favicon => STL => #3DPrint
If anyone wants this file I will attach the #STL & #3MF to this post if for some reason someone has a need for a #D #Pleroma logo model -

Is anyone who works with #3MF files aware that they have metadata you can insert into them? Talking about things like License, and Description, and Designer, and dates for creation and modification. It was a surprise to me (but not, like, a huge shock).
I'd like to see a real life example of these fields presented, but the only 3MF-aware applications I have my hands on don't really seem to do anything with these fields. If you know an app or service that shows these, could you LMK? I'm curious.

For some time now, I’ve stopped publishing my models in STL format and switched to 3MF. Why the change?
- Compression: Perfect for large, complex models.
- Multi-object storage: Great for multi-color prints in a single file. That said, I’d love to see more slicer software support even more advanced formats. This could help preserve original curves in paths, avoiding visible mesh artifacts—especially on larger printers.

macOS hive mind: If I were to write a small utility to view 3MF files (the new standard for additive manufacturing, which at a basic level is a triangle mesh), should I use SceneKit or RealityKit to render it?
Really, I'd be writing an importer (I can't seem to find one already in existence).

@MaryPot @bgrier @domr @3dprinting I’m not sure what are all the limitations of the “Personal” option of #Fusion360 - the one I know is that you cannot have more than 10 editable designs at the same time, which is perfectly fine for me. I just make them read-only after I’m done.
I also export each design as #f3d file to have a local copy and as #3mf file to use in Prusa Slicer.
Hope this helps.

#Introduction / #NewHere: My wandering career has led me to Google, where I own #modelviewer, your #opensource #web library to put #3D on your page with just a line of HTML, in photorealistic #PBR.
I also work standards on #glTF with #Khronos, and long ago with #3MF.
My side project is #Manifold, an open source #geometry kernel which I believe is the first to guarantee manifold mesh output. Test it out at https://manifoldcad.org/

@Siff @3dprinting thanks! I prefer #3mf because then my models and print settings are stored together. It just simplifies my file storage. Because, damn my folder of designs, gcode, and other files is already 3GB.

@Stark9837 @3dprinting Haven’t happened to me, but yesterday #Fusion360 was “weird” and, at some point I got a message that there is a new version and to restart the app to update itself. I’ll try export to #3mf later to see whether the issue is there.
-
This is the first time ever that it has happened with me, but has anyone had problems exporting #3mf files from #fusion360?
I am trying to export something, and prefer to use .3mf files for everything, due to the support of #prusa slicer, but when I try to open the exported file in anything, it gives an error at some arbitrary line number.
