After all, it takes a great deal of emotional effort to force yourself to learn something new, get to know a new interface, and cope with slow progress. You have to learn to appreciate little achievements, such as creating your own component library; connecting a 3D model, a PCB footprint, and a schematic symbol into a single part; and so on. Because it will all pay off in the future, right?
Look, if the industry uses this product, it means their employees have spent many hours learning the software and have now become valuable assets, because they can perform their tasks effectively. So I’m essentially investing in my career.
And even if it doesn’t turn into a profession, this experience will still prove useful, as the program will remain on my computer. Like, who in their sane mind would make radical changes to such software or completely block access to it?
Ah yeah, Autodesk would do it.

@brett I use SpaceMouse Wireless and it is great for both 2D and 3D navigation in #Fusion360, #SolidEdge, #OnShape, #PrusaSlicer, etc. It took me a couple of days to get used to it, of course. I like rotating the model and looking at it from all sides and angles, zooming in and out to check some corners, filets, etc.
Can you go without one? Yes, but it makes using these tools flawless and easier vs. with regular mouse. It works in many other apps, too, but its main strength is 3D navigation.

That took quite a lot of battling but I got the new #FujiNet proto board to come up on CoCo! I jumpered the pins for now to make it so all the GPIOs are in the lower 32bit window to make it easier to start from the PicoROM code.

There's now a CoCo version of the case. I added some extra standoffs so the case can be used as a jig while soldering the two boards together. #3DPrinted #KiCad #Fusion360 #MSX #RaspberryPiPico #TRS80CoCo #FujiNet #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #Electronics

Thanks to @NF6X now I've got the pads and silkscreens in #Fusion360 too! #KiCad #MSX #RaspberryPiPico #TRS80CoCo #FujiNet #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #Electronics

This is pretty neat! I can export a PCB from #KiCad as .step and import it directly into #Fusion360 so I can design my #MSX case around it. Too bad it doesn't export the silkscreen layer though. #RaspberryPiPico #TRS80CoCo #FujiNet #RetroComputing #VintageComputing #Electronics

Building physical things based on variables (parameters in the #Fusion360 world) has been really interesting. When multiple designs rely on standardized measurements it really improves interoperability. I can design parts and know they will come together predictably. #Fusion360 #CAD #CAM #parametric

Anyway, the tricky G2-continuous shape is now on the tool wall. It's a tray for this dual tape dispenser. (It absolutely did not need to be G2-continuous. I just wanted to play.)

I made a relatively simple thing that brings Fusion 360 to its knees. As in, every change, no matter how trivial, takes over a minute to recompute.
It's the outline shown above, extruded and filleted, then chamfered around the top edge. It ran fine until the chamfer. F360 can't calculate the chamfer directly; I had to do nonsense with a tapered extrusion.

Today is G2 continuity day! I learned this morning that Fusion 360 can do G2 continuous fillets, and I needed to model this anyway...
According to the color map (right image), the fillets are G2 to the bottom, but the small fillet isn't G2 to the sides. And the corners are awful. I don't know what to do about those.
If you think this is going to be another Gridfinity bin, you're close but not right.

Our rental has large, inward-swinging casement windows; we needed a way to prop them open without causing any damage, so I came up with this simple wedge.

Fusion360 can be maddening at times. I meticulously crafted fully-parametric models for our storage boxes and rigorously tested various sizes. But when I generated the final version, the software chose to mirror only a subset of the features.
If you've downloaded model files from the 2200A series, please remove them and grab the updated versions. My apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Just published a versatile webbing buckle with model files for 120 different dimensions! 🎉
https://www.printables.com/model/602174
Struggling with loose webbing bands on your backpack? My latest design allows you to 3D print a secure, lightweight buckle for a vast range of webbing dimensions. With 120 dimension-specific model files, you're sure to find the perfect fit. Or, use the Fusion 360 design and create a model for your desired dimensions.
Enjoy! 😄

While the recently published knob design may look simple from the outside, its internals are the interesting part to look at.
I've optimized it for 3D printing, added a built-in spring mechanism that presses against the flat side of the shaft, ensuring a secure fit.
The Fusion360 design adjusts these features to accommodate a wide range of dimensions, typically eliminating the need for post-processing.
