I recently tested #hylki email client (as suggested by @kev) and ended up installing Ubuntu since Hylki requires Gnome, and my daily Mint runs on Cinnamon. I decided to stay on Ubuntu for a day or two and am finding it way more polished than what I remember from 2-3 years ago. However, Wayland is annoying with its lack of programmatic screenshot support. Things like `slop`, `maim`, or `clip` don't work and need replacing with `slurp`, `grim` or `wl-copy` plus some heavy under-the-hood tinkering.
