  1. Data center GPUs are designed for massive forced air cooling in server racks.

My little homelab doesn't need to sound like a jet turbine while idle, so I assembled this. It's a high-amp fan controller with both user adjustable and temperature sensor control. I'll stick the temp probe into the primary GPU's heatsink. So it'll have responsive cooling just like a consumer GPU.

The modern maker would probably deploy a Pi zero for this. Old-skool is best sometimes. And cheap.

  2. Data from a16z shows token prices keep falling while H100 GPU rental prices stay steady or rise. Cheaper AI tokens are driving demand faster than costs drop.

  5. Was ist eigentlich ? Wie hängen und zusammen? Und was genau meint unsere IT, wenn sie von spricht? 🤔

  6. “Your data strength is [now] industry leading” -Google, this afternoon, in a meeting.

Said in front of my project manager.

The best part is the Google rep on the call had no idea that I’ve been the one doing the actual cat herding required for an org like giffgaff to actually achieve that result.

Definitely a huge team effort, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t beaming with pride on the back of that comment.

  7. 🏗️ Data centers are temporary, but their cleanup costs could hit communities hard when they finally shut down—no one’s holding developers accountable.
Who’s gonna clean up when the tech becomes obsolete? Like that old car in your driveway—suddenly it’s a liability.

"#VA2 is not connected to the electric grid. Eight onsite natural-gas turbines supply primary power, with the diesel generators serving as backup. #Vantage confirmed the turbine plant failed, triggering the extended generator run, and said the onsite plant is temporary, with #grid connection planned once the utility can support the facility’s load."
