    Success!

The old WinXP laptop was able to pull the driver off of the disk!

Now to get them installed & working.

The files look a bit strange & I can't make out exactly which .cab file that I need so I just went ahead & sent everything over to the #PocketPC using the magic of wireless #IrDA.

Once I can verify that the files are good & working, I will put them up on #Archive.

I don't believe the 1.4 #WindowsCE drivers exist anywhere online.

  3. @Judeau @stefanjl 2/2 It's not tied to NokturnFM cartridges (there's OPL2 variant too), supports other oses / OPL devices(bus-error.nokturnal.pl/Using%2), has simple player #atarist #opl3 #opl2 PR for ScummVM (right now there are only my custom builds, need to make proper Linux library distribution first) is on the way too and possibly in Hatari emulator via natfeats (, so you can use opl3 express for instance or something other if I finish proper drivers). Can't do much more...

  8. @Judeau @janeishly there was one particular Dell netbook that was *really* well suited to being a #hackintosh, Mini 9, iirc?

  9. @Judeau I like WindowsCE as well. I wish it was easier to install software on many of the devices, but that's part of what makes them useful for me. Instant on, get right to Word and start working.

My favorite #WindowsCE device is the Vadem Clio. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vadem_Cl). I have two of these. I used to have a very nice third one, but they're very picky about power and I fried it using a voltage adapter.

I'm just 3DS photos. For #GameboyCamera photography, you should check out @harryfk (They're high quality too. This guy can compose a photo.)

Ty for the mention though :)

  11. An update to my previous post
    mas.to/@Judeau/115305731549315

The replacement gear came in & It works like a charm!

Unfortunately, while it goes through the motions, nothing actually prints on the paper. Previously the head had a lot of dried ink on it. I suspect there's dried ink inside somewhere.

Is there a good way to go about cleaning the printhead? Could I soak it in hot water or some cleaning solution?

It was a hasty decision, sorry about that as the wesnoth account is now removed and replaced with

    2️⃣ Jason Scott at mastodon.archive.org

    Edit:

I figured that any project that made their own fediverse instance, I think those kind of folks "get the fediverse" and thus I wanna feature them.

  13. @Judeau yup, I got a whip antenna on #temu for super cheap before the minimum viable tax ended and it works great!

Haven't pulled the trigger on a #lilygo yet, but that new #tLoraPager they released looks mighty tempting!

  14. @Judeau it's all thanks to awesome #MuziWorks folks and their support 👍

  15. I FINALLY managed to get a 1080p non-cropped Widescreen version of #Lassie 2005!!!!

Read about my months long frustration of trying to watch this film in the United States here: mas.to/@Judeau/112440058336263

I have now uploaded and preserved the film for everyone at archive.org/details/lassie-200

At the beginning of this year I set out with a goal to restore FULL #PocketPC compatibility on a current #Windows 10 #PC.

We outlined how to both establish a connection AND Sync here… mas.to/@Judeau/112678025590638

We looked at different keyboards and how to transfer Word files while preserving formatting here… mas.to/@Judeau/112689361744308

The last piece of the puzzle was restoring wireless #IrDA connectivity.

    Spoiler alert: I got it!

It really does, and what's funny is that nobody ever meaningfully talks about the enemy designs in #PhantasyStar Ⅲ at all except in the context of being angry that they're only given two or three frames of animation (which is still more animation frames than Final Fantasy enemies had, but I guess Phantasy Star, having built its reputation in part on its high-quality animation, gets held to a higher standard).

I remember that back in the nineties there was this Phantasy Star fan website (I think just called "The Phantasy Star Homepage"?) which had compiled some of the most rigorous annotation online at the time for beating the other three games, but the site owner had given up on compiling the same for PSⅢ by the first cave dungeon because they were *so disgusted* with how dumb the Grinder enemy looked and the fact that its attack animation just wiggles its ears.

But all the enemies in the game are creative, fascinatingly impressionistic, for the most part placed evocatively

  23. 1/2 @Judeau @stefanjl Because it is quite fresh. Well, adoption is quite poor to be honest in comparison to let's say c64 or Atari 8-bit (I don't have any influence on people), but I've open sourced library (C99, framagit.org/nokturnal/nfm), I've made docs about usage, which eases adding opl support along with player (it needs some more work as always). #atarist #opl3 #opl2
