My #mediaCenter #TV's soundbar keeps going into sleep mode, and the #dog ate the #remoteControl so it's an annoyance to pause a film, chat a bit, and then have to get up to switch it back on again. (Oh, and it's not an #IrDA remote so it's a drag to emulate or replace.)
So I wrote a little program to make a periodic almost-inaudible sound to trick the soundbar into staying "awake".
And that's the story of how a hacky engineer turns a hardware problem into a #software problem.

Success!
The old WinXP laptop was able to pull the driver off of the disk!
Now to get them installed & working.
The files look a bit strange & I can't make out exactly which .cab file that I need so I just went ahead & sent everything over to the #PocketPC using the magic of wireless #IrDA.
Once I can verify that the files are good & working, I will put them up on #Archive.
I don't believe the 1.4 #WindowsCE drivers exist anywhere online.

Many years later, as she faced the firing squad, Christina remembered that distant afternoon when she used her calculator to log into her laptop.

India's insurance regulator IRDA has proposed capping agent commissions at 20 percent for endowment and pension policies, a move affecting the 1 trillion rupee (11.7B USD) insurance distribution market. The draft proposal aims to curb mis-selling and reduce costs for policyholders. Currently, agents can earn commissions of up to 35 percent on certain policies, and the industry has raised concerns about the impact on agent incentives and distribution. https://indiadispatch.com/news/irda-proposes-20-percent-commission-cap-for-insurance-agents-10431120 #India #Tech #Insurance #IRDA

@PurpleJillybeans This printer was fantastic. I believe I had the 5p. It ran great for years and then I foolishly gave it away in the mid-2000s.
Recently, I looked at buying another one because of the built-in #IrDA until I saw the eBay prices. Yikes!
Hopefully I can find one locally for a more reasonable price someday.

I only see two HP Deskjets with #IrDA sensors.

995cAs far as I'm concerned, that's a wrap for HP unless someone else can add to the list.
Oddly, I can't find a single Epson printer with an IrDA sensor. Did they not make a single one?
Moving on to Canon.

So far I have been looking at monochrome HP #LaserJet printers. I feel I have a fairly comprehensive list here.
Each of these are confirmed, by either looking at original manuals or pictures, to have an #IrDA sensor.
The dates, taken from various sources, are probably not exact and are used by me as reference only.
5P (1995)
5MP (1995)
6P (1996)
6MP (1996)
2100 (2002)
2100M (2002)

I'm trying my best to compile a list of printers (Inkjet, LaserJet or thermal) that have a physical built-in IrDA sensor.
I am NOT including ones that just have a port and require an adapter.
If you know of any please feel free to list them below

#IrDA is up and running on #Windows 10. I can now wirelessly transfer files between my Laptop and #PocketPC!It’s much more convenient than having to juggle multiple proprietary cables.
It’s one cable to rule them all. One cable to transfer files across every IrDA enable device and I love it!
This is amazing and I believe I have achieved what I set out to do; Restore the FULL functionality of Pocket Pcs on modern hardware!

I then went to Gearmo’s webpage and downloaded their MCS7780 driver at https://www.gearmo.com/shop/fast-usb2-infrared-adapter/I plugged in the Gearmo #IrDA dongle and opened Device Manager. I found it listed under “Other Devices.” I right clicked on it and selected “Properties.” I navigated to the “Driver” tab and clicked “Update Drivers.”
I then selected the driver I had just downloaded and a moment later the device was up and running!
Success!!!
