#Spotted on a Night of Musical Theatre in Aotearoa New Zealand:
Three puppy-keen teens (18?) form a huddle on the stage before beginning their number. Spotlight on them. Room is quiet, except for one person in the audience who exclaims: "SO cute!"
The crowd erupts into laughter.The evening's gloriously glittering drag queen host in a sparkly red dress introduces herself as Sandy Balls and slinks across to a chaise longue at the edge of the stage to lounge, saying: "I'm just going to lurk here at the edge of the stage like a glamorous barnacle."
At one of the round tables near the back of the room, two lanky teens (16?) proudly introduce themselves as leading men. Most recently Jaffar in Aladdin and Prince Eric in the Little Mermaid. Watching the show with stoic expressions that transform to grins when a friend walks on stage.
An usher (50s?) is complimented on her black leather jacket with spiked epaulettes on the shoulders. Laughing, she says: "Wanna touch them? Everyone else has wanted to!"
Later seen offering up a shoulder to friends who give the spikes a good-luck pat before racing into the show.A woman (40s?) steps into the spotlight and begins a rousing version of "An Old-Fashioned Love Story" from the musical Wild Party. Feet stomping on the floor in appreciation. Hoots, claps and laughter filling the room to the ceiling.

#Spotted While Roaming in Aotearoa New Zealand:
In a cafe: A server brings a woman (60s?) a GIANT cheese scone and she hoots with laughter. Slicing it in half to butter it, she exclaims: "Oh. My. God! This scone is just butter and cheese held together by wishes and dreams!"
In a supermarket, a fierce looking man (50s?) in black bike leathers with full head and face tattoos is doing a little on-the-spot groove in the coffee aisle to Enigma's song "Return to Innocence." Humming along as he chooses his brew.
On a very long bike track on sunset, two small humans (3 & 4?) on bright pink and green push-along bikes are propelling themselves next to Dad.
They have ALL the energy and aren't looking tired at all.
Not. At. All.
Sleepy Looking Dad saying: "How bout ya see how fast you can go!"In a paddock next to a walking track: A large, placid looking cow is being piloted by a seagull that's sitting on its back.
Seagull is standing to attention, facing the direction this big cow beast should be going.
Meanwhile Cow seems quite happy to munch some grass, running on autopilot.On dusk, a tiny human (2?) in Bluey pajamas is toddling through a park with Mum. Picking feijoas off some nearby trees before studiously putting them in Mum's wicker basket. Birds singing good night to each other overhead. A big Labrador snuffling at the grass by their side.

#Spotted at a Small All Ages Music Gig in Aotearoa New Zealand:
A very serious looking teen (15?) is standing against a wall, watching the lead singer of an awesome band* own the stage.
Every now and then, Dad putting a hand on Teen's shoulder. Checking in.
Stoic cool nod.
Yeah, this is okay.Before the gig, the drummer of a band is spotted, drumsticks in hand, heading over to a wheelie bin and belting out a beat. People coming in, hugging friends, grabbing a koha* coffee. Chatting and laughing as the beat goes on.
An adorable cuddly couple (20s?) are snuggle-moshing as the lead singer of the support band wails some epic notes.
Guitars cranking,
Drums pounding,
Crowd moving
They're in love.A teen (15?) grabs her nervous friends hand and pulls her into the venue, right in front of the stage.
Holding hands.
First tentatively swaying.
Then wiggle dancing.
Then moshing.
Nervous smiles, then grinning.
Giggling together mid-pogo.A lead singer is a twitching, dynamic, vibrant phenomenon on a small stage in front of a crowd ranging from 15 to 70. Women of all ages, makes and models up the front, getting their groove on. Cool teens at the side. Tall dudes up the back, doing the straight man nod. The vibe is chill fun.

Sitting on a swing and going back and forward with a huge grin, legs up in the air, saying: "This is FUN!"
Okay, now Tiny Human definitely wants a go!In a park, on a crisp morning, a big group of women (20s-50s?) have finished a run and are standing in front of a small coffee cart parked under a big shady tree. Stamping their feet, chatting and laughing as they wait for their coffees and the odd delicious pastry treat.
A woman (80s?) with purple hair, wearing a purple suit and purple Doc Martens, with a pretty white flower in her buttonhole pushes a cafe door open only for a tiny human (1?) to shriek an excited hello from Mum's arms.

Wearing a green corduroy jacket over sensible hiking clothes and sturdy mud caked boots is sitting on a bench overlooking a spring welling up from an underground cave. Eyes half closed. Taking in the peace. A faint smile on his face.

Huffing and chuffing into the children's book section.
Spinning around and giving Mum a big goofy smile.
This is EXACTLY where she wants to be.A small human (3?) is hunched over a paper plate of sushi, guarding it like Smaug perched above a fishy bite-sized hoard.
Looking suspiciously at Big Sister.
Big Sister might look innocent but Smaug Small Human knows when PLOTTING is afoot!A small human (5?) is trying to cast a spell, but all she has for a wand is two scoops of ice-cream in a waffle cone.
But what is this?!
Her wand has SPLATTED in a backfire?!
hmmm...
Maybe ice-cream isn't cut out for magic after all.A woman (80s?) is walking along and saying to a friend: "I'm SO proud of myself. This morning, I touched my toes in yoga! My toes! I haven't been able to touch my toes in DECADES!"
She lets out a delighted peal of laughter as they take a seat at a coffee stall.A tiny human and Dad are moseying through the markets wearing matching cowboy hats, matching plaid shirts and matching work boots.

Tiny Human is wearing dinosaur shorts that don't match Dad's plain ones?

A sea breeze is blowing, sending Fluffy Tiny Dog's hair sideways.
Her eyes closed, nose raised to the air to take in all the delicious smells.
Gulls calling overhead.Two women (30s?) are fishing from a pier. The breeze blowing their colourful hijabs first this way... then that.
One suddenly shrieks with laughter.
Reeling in the line with hurried movements!
The other wrapping an arm around her waist and cheering her on.A woman (30s?) is chewing up a beach path with long strides.
Her expression serious.
Her voice carrying on the wind: "Please don't forget the ice-cream. The ice-cream is non negotiable. I mean it. Seriously. NON. NEGOTIABLE."At an outdoor pub table a woman (20s?) with bare feet, wearing a floaty red dress and multiple bangles and bracelets that sing as she moves, sets a glass of wine down in front of her partner and kisses her on the top of the head only to get a soft smile in return.
A young human (8?) is standing at the side of a busy beach road with Nana. Nana goes to cross and Young Human grabs her hand, saying sternly: "You didn't look both ways! You HAVE to look both ways!"

She gives a friend sitting outside a stoic nod and steps inside to order a coffee and to have a Serious Woodworking Talk with a barista as he makes it.Two teens (14?) are going for a run along a river path on a crisp Autumn evening. Both wearing metal band shirts, black jeans and heavy black boots.

A man (60s?) dressed in high vis and paint-smeared work boots is sitting in the window of a bakery. Hard at work, munching on a raspberry bun. A fresh cappuccino by his elbow. A sunbeam warming his face as people hurry by on the way to work.
A small human (4?) with dancing pigtails in her hair is RUNNING ahead of Dad as he ambles along.
