In the fallopian tube, coordinated peristaltic contractions and fluid flow ensure that the embryo is guided into the uterus for implantation at the correct time. The confocal fluorescence image shows the transition zone from the fallopian tube to the uterus of a mouse in a cross section.

Thought-provoking preprint about the variable photostability of StayGold (compared to classic #GFPs) under different imaging modalities. Basically, you should a spinning disk for best results, not pointscanning confocal. Wonder if that also goes for 2-photon. The paper includes a “classification of #fluoresence #microscopy” according to ISO 10934:2020 !!!

Is a "Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope" the same as a SEM electron microscope? Or are these two different things?
Cause I just found someone talking about having 10nm Z-Axis and 120nm XY-Axis resolution using a Olympus LEXT OLS 4100.
And from what I read earlier this should be below what is physically possible with "white light".
That would be perfect for reading a shattered blue-ray...
Edit: No, they just use violet light. That explains it...

Today marks the 190th year anniversary of the discovery of the #cyphonautes #larva of #bryozoans! Ehrenberg first saw the tiny creature on November 25, 1832 (Hyman 1959).
This is my favorite #LarvalForm of all #MarineInvertebrates. It has a unique triangled, hat-like shape with a thin bivalve shell and a pompom at the top (apical organ). It swims and captures food using cilia and has some finely organized muscles (first image).
