  1. Is #Trump willy-nilly giving #pardons to all these high-level federal criminals to curry their favor? To curry the favor of their supporters? Or just to discredit federal prosecutions in general, Biden-era prosecutions specifically, and thus Biden-era prosecutions against *him* most specifically?

  2. Hey, now that the fifth (fourth) and final #IndianaJones
movie is streaming ... I watched it.

And, actually, stupid title aside, I liked it a lot more than I expected to. It's not a great movie, plot-wise (though Indy films rarely are), but it is very good with the title character and in wrapping up his career quite appropriately.

  3. Wait ... there's a TV series in the works? And is involved in the production? Wow.

The first books -- the Corwin chronicles -- are, I would argue, classic "unfilmable" tales, not so much because of the visual trippiness (CG makes so much possible now) but because they are such interior tales, rich in internal dialog and perceptions by the protag. Not easy to give as an external tale. But ... I'm excited nonetheless!

  8. It's also worth noting that a number of #Trump 's bestest buddies -- #Putin, #Xi_Jinping , the #Saudi rulers -- have profoundly bad records on religious freedom (including toward Christians) -- far, far worse than "Boo-hoo, evil anti-Christian laws mean I can't fire gay people for being gay."

Lack of mention about dealing with *that* "anti-Christian bias" tells you it's not about #ReligiousFreedom, but about #power.

  9. Finally watched the #DoctorWho Christmas Special, Holiday Special, or Special No. 4 (depending on which advert you see for it).

I think the #FifteenthDoctor is going to be a lot of fun, full of compassion and whimsy. Not gotten a solid coherent read off of #Ruby yet, but we'll see.

The plot it self was moderately intricate, left some bits dangling for RTD to come back to, and, if a bit fantasy-heavy ... well, Doctor Who has always been fantasy with most the numbers filed off. Good stuff.

  10. #MAGA Crew: "All your #culture stuff is sick and depraved and un-American and should be defunded if not prosecuted, and all your supporters kicked out of their leadership roles."

Also MAGA Crew: "How dare you decide not to show a popular musical at the #KennedyCenter just because we fired all the Democrats from the board?! You're not being fair! How terribly #intolerant you are!"

  12. So a lot of people, self included, had fun watching the #HouseGOP turn into the Kilkenny Cats the last 3+ weeks. Funny, right?

Except not. Because now it's clear who owns the GOP. It was his gang that got #McCarthy booted out, and then made it clear #Scalise would not be it, and that put forward #JimJordan and then sank #TomEmmer in hours. And it was his gang that got his fervent ally, Mike Johnson, through UNANIMOUSLY.

#DonaldTrump IS the #Republican Party, and vice-versa. God help us all.

  13. Today's #GOP keeps telling us who they are. We just don't want to believe them.

  14. Regarding #doortodoor rooftop #solar power salesfolk, I'm trying to decide if I should save their company name to (a) reach back out to them when we decide to go that route, or (b) studiously avoid any company that sells solar door-to-door when we decide to go that route.

The idea that I'm going to suddenly be inspired and make a decision like rooftop solar on the spur of the moment at a front door encounter is, frankly, insulting. Esp. with a painfully over-long preamble / pitch.

  15. In prep for the 60th Anniversary specials of #DoctorWho , we've been rewatching S4, the #DoctorDonna season, and I've been remembering the joy of my favorite #Companion before or since. Sassy, sympathetic, very much a normal person, *not* a romantic interest or strange prodigy or ancient prophecy, #DonnaNoble ( #CatherineTate ) deserved so much better than her S4 fate, and it will be awesome to see her back.

Oh, yeah, that #DavidTennant guy was pretty decent, too.

  17. I read a lot about #logo and #branding changes. I think the #CrackerBarrel rebranding has points where aesthetic criticism can be made, but I've seen far worse.

What strikes me is that a certain folk have decided to make it a *political* (via cultural) scandal of Change in general, exemplified by removing an #OldWhiteGuy from the logo. Which in turn has, through volume, made it a media cause celebre.

I'm seeing more and more of the aesthetic becoming the political. That's not good.

  18. #TomEmmer is the newest #HouseGOP member to be nominated for humiliation.

Unlike #JimJordan, the #HouseWhip is being opposed for not being #conservative enough: he dared vote yea for the #RespectForMarriage Act, which said the federal govt would recognize states' same-sex and interracial marriages.

That *that's* why he's facing such opposition is still further reason to be disgusted with the #Republican party.

  19. So #sprinklers are all working except one weird spur that dates back to the previous landscaping in the front, in a corner between the sidewalk and pavers leading to the front, by a major non-sprinkler feed line, and where the concrete of the sidewalk pokes out undergound an extra couple of inches. And tree roots. Oh, and there are ants.

    Of course.

And the sprinkler guys are booked out a month. And I *really* don't want to tackle this myself, dagnabbit.

  22. So another faboo #Thankgiving dinner, courtesy mostly of my sainted wife. My contribution -- besides cleaning house beforehand and washing dishes afterward -- was a carrot cake.

Not terribly interesting to look at, but it tasted great, if I do say so myself.
