Yesterday I wore these pants to meet a friend to walk together to pick up her farm share. When we got to the pickup location, we saw a chalkboard that a visible mending group was happening RIGHT NOW and so we toodled over to that part of the garden and hung out with some really lovely new folks and I stitched up a hole in my shoe and my friend squished up some indigo leaves from the garden with some salt and dyed some bits of fabric and another woman talked about her e-bike bookmobile while another woman talked about her upcoming wedding which will be held at the same public monument where I got married and holy cats I love living in this city.

The hosts were like "did you wear those pants because you knew this was happening" and I was like "I literally had no idea this was going on, this is just how I dress."

@athorn #SomervilleMA govt has seemed aggressive about surveillance for many years, often ahead of neighbor #CambridgeMA.

Even in the last couple years, I still see some advocates thinking that *more* local surveillance is a good thing. Like they don't understand how the technology works, who all has access to it, and how it can be abused for even worse purposes than what they imagined they were protecting against.
