I'm happy that someone called me out on my lack of knowledge of #Intersectionality but I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't tell me where I was wrong.

This is a subtoot because I'm not interested in #sealioning anyone. Let's assume good faith on all sides. Think of it like this: I'm still going to recommend that people other than women or feminists learn about it. If I'm going to make a fundamental error or mischaracterise things, I genuinely want to know about that. Otherwise, I'm going to continue to pass on my faulty understanding.

I'm also training in para-fencing and adapted physical activity since I'm disabled myself.

I aspire to become an inclusive teacher, fighting oppressions going in my sport and environnement, for a brighter future for my students and women, children, LGBT+ and POC in sports.

As a feminist, who has been in many different kinds of relationships with cis, hetero men, after decades of analysing the patterns of them, I found a common theme and I know that I am not the only woman who came to that conclusion. In my experience this is true for all cis, hetero men, not matter if you are neurodivergent, progressive, even call yourself a feminist.

You are all way too comfortable with women doing all the work for you, while not even being aware of it, while not even acknowledging it, at least not to the full extent. In my experience there are no exceptions to this.

This is the reason why the song "Labour" by Paris Paloma resonates with so many women, this one of the many reasons why women simply give up on dating cis, hetero men.

It still baffles me how many people believe, that understanding other people’s perspective is the one size fits all solution for inner peace. Usually that comes from a position of privilege, the level of understanding of “It happened to me that I took something personally, but then I understood the other persons perspective and realized that it was not about me and that made me feel better.” Ironically this believe is the result of a limited perspective, of the limited understanding of other people’s lived reality.

Like so many other autistic people, understanding other people, their motives, their behavior, understanding how this world works has always been a strong interest of mine. And it is helpful and necessary for emotional maturity and personal growth, communication and relationships, don’t get me wrong.

I do believe that humans are inherently good, like Rutger Bregmann elaborates in his book “Human Kind” and that it is a complex combination of individual and systemic factors that makes people do bad things. But that is exactly the point. Whose perspective is valid, heard and relevant in this society is a question of power, hierarchy and privilege and intent doesn’t magically erase harm. I wrote about this empathy gap when it comes to power dynamics a few years ago and a mutual, @Newstrujew nailed it with the sentence “At a certain level of power, empathy becomes completely optional.”

So as an autistic woman I am at a point where understanding others people’s perspective often doesn’t give me peace, because it usually reveals their ignorance. I want them to understand and validate mine.

As I passed a small swamp, a tremendous splash echoed. Thinking as a blind, it might be a shark, I jokingly told my caregiver, "Let's escape!" Dark clouds and rumbling thunder chased us home. Ten minutes later, a downpour began. We were lucky to escape it, and lucky not to meet a bear--just another day in Japan. These small moments are what give us the strength to overcome difficult times.

As a result, I have become so anxious that I am unable to attend my regular checkups for cancer recurrence, and the mental impact has been severe.

I feel that reports of sexual violence against disabled people in Japan are only the tip of the iceberg. Many experiences never become visible, never become news, and never receive meaningful responses.

Today is day 10 of the LGBTQ alphabet series: Wrapping up with a number and a letter to represent indigenous people.

2S is for Two-Spirit.

While the term Two-Spirit or 2S is relatively new, Two-Spirit people have always been part of North American Indigenous culture. They are part of the Queer community and deserve acceptance and respect everywhere.

The general understanding is that "Two-Spirit" as a pan-tribal umbrella term came into being at an inter-tribal gathering in Winnipeg in 1990. The term is meant to honor diverse traditional gender roles within Indigenous cultures before European contact.

For Indigenous people and allies, de-colonization is more than history. It is seeing past Western concepts of the male/female binary and embracing one's true self as understood by one's heritage.

As a late blooming white Bi male my knowledge of "Two-Spirit" is minimal, so I used Gemini AI to research and verify accuracy and respect. If you’re interested in learning more, refer to the resources linked in the main Substack article.
