Researchers have created a dataset for training and evaluating language models without intellectual property infringement!
The Common Pile includes diverse text sources like web content, books, research papers (from PubMed & ArXiv), and online discussions. ArXiv is not peer-reviewed. 🤔 It's designed to be high-quality and reproducible for NLP & LLM research.

My recommendation is to start with #LyXOnce you get an understanding for #LaTeX and depending on the OS it is good to have a decent LaTeX editor like #Kile or #TeXStudio (here is a list: https://www.guru99.com/best-latex-editors-window-mac.html)
Apart from that, have a look at #markdown. This might give you faster results at the beginning.

@apps I was wondering if a local translation, as in #firefox, would be a solution. It seems that the #bergamot translation tool can be used be other apps too. #dsnote (https://github.com/mkiol/dsnote) uses it for example.

I have been using Firefox Translations (aka #bergamot) for some time. It enables client side (local, no web server) in-page translations. It is quite useful and the results are good. What is the experience among #fediverse users? #Argos translate (local) and #LibreTranslate (web) are subjectively better IMHO (not tested) but not well integrated in the browser.

There are some, but I'm not sure if that's exactly what you are looking for. In my opinion, they are good.https://apps.kde.org/korganizer/

It is interesting to see that there are two #kde applications (#kaichat, #alpaka) under developed to work with large language models. Both will work with #ollama (https://ollama.com/). -
The #appimage of #digikam works well too.
https://www.digikam.org/download/
I found it easier to get it working with the machine learning tools for image annotation and face tagging.
In case you try the appimage considered its 'installation' via https://github.com/mijorus/gearlever
#gearlever can help you to integrate the app into the menu, give execution permission, deletion and update.

@emitanaka @benmarwick That is a great tip! Just tried in #RKWard. I didn't notice the usage of #koRpus in #wordcountaddin. koRpus is developed by Meik Michalke, who is also a developer of RKWard. koRpus has quite a nice GUI support in RKWard. Great work!

Hey. A colleague and I have build #DynamiR for analysis of miRNA.
https://codeberg.org/a_probst/DynamiR
It is a #dash board (#Python) browser gui. What a currently the approaches to provide it as standalone? Currently, I use `pyinstaller` (which need builds for all OS  ), which works well. I know #docker too. But is there something else? -
Back in 2002/3 I was lost during the installation. We had Linux (Suse) the the Uni and Linux was what I wanted. Fortunately, a wise guy in the hall of recidence guided me. Only requirement Debian /w Gnome. Momorable quality time.
I sticked to Debian, albeit later with #Kanotix, #Sidux and #Siduction, #Kubuntu, #TUXEDOOS. All with KDE.

agros-translate (https://github.com/argosopentech/argos-translate) is really a great tool. I use the CLI version with the argostranslategui
Comes handy when imporving translations for #rstats and other tasks.

@[email protected] Methinks it is #GuidovanRossum himself managing this. https://twitter.com/gvanrossum/status/1326932991566700549
I might be wrong though. -
@lwpembleton I just came across your post. I took it as inspiration to achieve sth similar with base #Rstats and #tinyplot
There is one small issue that I could not solve instantly with the Cylinder as a factor. Therefore, this `Cylinders <- as.factor(mtcars$cyl)` hack. Maybe @gmcd or @zeileis has a quick suggestion?
-
Christmal special for the R base plot folks:
take a look at the latest #tinyplot developments.
@gmcd et al. have a nice tool for you.
