I've switched more than a year ago and I am so happy with it!

If you want steam to just work out of the box with all games, I recommend #nobara .That even gets it done with all Nvidia drivers etc.

For #LaTex, I've in windows already used #TexStudio and it is equally available for #Linux.

In der Bücherei habe ich mir ein #LaTeX Buch ausgeliehen. Aus der berühmten "für dummies"-Reihe, damit auch ich eine Chance habe, es zu kapieren 😉

Auf dem PC befinden sich die Programme #texmaker und #texstudio, die ich schon länger nicht mehr gestartet hatte. Als ich sie jetzt öffnete, um den Beispielen zu folgen, entdeckte ich zu meinem Entsetzen in den Einstellungen von texstudio einen Abschnitt #KI. Es ist mir egal, ob sich das deaktivieren lässt, ich will damit nicht belästigt werden. Also umgehend deinstalliert. Ehrlich, diese Plage nervt gewaltig.

@ijk I started out using #TeXStudio, which worked very well and was beginner-friendly, but eventually I switched to #Emacs which is a steeper learning curve but ultimately more powerful.

Instalar #TexStudio requiere descargar 1788 paquetes en #Tumbleweed. Básicamente todo #texlive más algo de perl que he visto por ahí.

Edito: casi todo texlive. Por ejemplo texlive-moderncv no está como dependencia.

After using #TexLatex for some time I have to say I really like it especially in combination with #texstudio.
I wish I had looked into it sooner.
Its a great #FOSS alternative to other word processors.

Ich will hier nur was #formatieren. Warum erklärt ihr den Kram so, als hätt ich die nächsten 3 Jahre nix besseres zu tun und ein rein akademisches Interesse an der Materie, das auf eine technische #Doktorarbeit über die Geschichte von #TrueTypeFont und #pdfLaTeX hinauslaufen soll?

@zleap Since we're in the #fediverse, when you're ready to graduate to something more decentralized, I recommend #TexStudio combined with self-hosted #Git on #gitolite

I've had Overleaf go down hours before a grant deadline. My colleagues panicked, I had a copy of the proposal in my Git repo.

My recommendation is to start with #LyX

Once you get an understanding for #LaTeX and depending on the OS it is good to have a decent LaTeX editor like #Kile or #TeXStudio (here is a list: https://www.guru99.com/best-latex-editors-window-mac.html)

Apart from that, have a look at #markdown. This might give you faster results at the beginning.

Ich finde ja #TeX immer noch genauso #PITA wie vor 30 Jahren im Studium.

#Asciidoc, #Markdown, #Docbook sind aber kein Deut besser, wenn es ans Eingemachte geht.

Immerhin sind die Tools heute besser seit damals. #TeXstudio mein aktueller Favorit - für ein 1700 Seiten Werk aus 100ten Dateien.

Live Preview gibt's aber immer noch nicht und compilieren dauert 1minute30...

(Nein, #Kile ist keine Alternative. Und kein FanBoySplaining! Oder du musst eine Woche in meinen Mokassins laufen)
