Just going to drop my pinned-post boilerplate from yesterday into this:

The #SupremeCourt is working exactly as #LeonardLeo and the #FederalistSociety intended

    The mask is off

    All that #Textualism and #Originalism and high-minded-sounding #OriginalIntent schtick was a premeditated #Federalist / #GOP lie

#SCOTUS is now situational, relative, and expedient in one direction only

It's far right SCOTUS #ActivistJudges all the way down from here on out

    Long time no see/read.

LA's "safety concern" regarding #Mifepristone is a canard. Their complaint claims they've had to pay "thousands in Medicaid fees for people who were harmed" by the medication.

"Thousands" of dollars in medical fees state wide isn't even a rounding error when it comes to hospital costs.

Mifepristone is safer than Tylenol (which is also available by mail.) They likely pay more remedying Tylenol reactions, yet they aren't calling to stop its sale. 🤔

  3. Hardcore Gaming 101 on Agent USA
There's a whole genre of computer game that's almost extinct these days, the inventive educational semi-simulation. Some examples include the beloved M.U.L.E. and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego, and another one is Scholastic and Tom Snyder Productions' Agent USA. Chris Gallagher on Hardco

  4. New U.S. Supreme Court decision will likely benefit GIS and drone users

This is a first amendment free speech case. The issue before the supreme court is whether the lower courts applied the correct criteria in ruling against the person claiming that their actions were protected speech. The supreme court held that the lower courts did *not* apply the correct criteria and the case will be remanded to the lower courts with instructions to apply the correct criteria.

For background on how this will benefit GIS and drone users see my reddit post about a company producing site plans and a drone operator estimating the quantity of piles of dirt. Both were cited for doing land surveying without a license.
    reddit.com/r/gis/comments/1pks

Both the site plan guy and drone guy sued based on the first amendment and both lost in the lower courts. Both have asked the supreme court for review for the exact same reason that won reversal in the supreme court decision released today.

I expect the supreme court will now grant review in those two cases and eventually rule that the lower courts did not apply the correct criteria when deciding those cases. Ultimately the survey boards will most likely lose those cases and the site plan guy and drone guy will be able to do their thing.

  5. For #Christmas , #Indiana #BananaRepublican state Senator #ChrisGarten effectively gave #Americans the ‘gift’ of seeing the result of mixing #MAGA + #AI. Watch 👀 if you can stomach it (I couldn’t), but read to understand the depravity that would ensue if the #UnitedStates became a #BasketOfDeplorables powered by unbridled #GenAI. huffpost.com/entry/indiana-rep

In any case, Chris Garten has earned the ‘honor’ of being the January Poster Boy for #AIslop in the #NewYear.

"So only little boys infected with socialist #propaganda can blame Mises for his words."

"You are economically ignorant and perhaps dishonest."

"...but stupid boys infected with statist #propaganda hate #Rothbard for his proposals to make people, especially children, less unhappy."

"If you wish to remain in a state of happy #ignorance about #economics, you can continue to read Graeber's book."

Seems to be a libertarian thing where you get to be arrogant but nobody else is supposed to be 🤔
