A fun bit of local land surveying history. Kendall County is a nice little square, so the PLSS grid literally has a center point that some BLM surveyor marked out in somewhere in 1837-1838.
We asked a local surveyor if he could find it and monument it with coordinates and all. He reviewed all the notes he could and went out to where he thought it would be.
First try, he nailed it!
