Have gotten through the worst of the storm reasonably intact.
Though can't say the same for surrounding roads.

I once had a person at a particular company that created a lot of online gambling websites and apps, trying to encourage me to apply for marketing jobs at the business. I said no, because I can clearly see the harms the sector causes.

More evidence that the #academies system here in #England is creating little fiefdoms for power hungry asshole adults. Oh, so there'd been some vandalism and kids had been using their phones. There are more progressive ways to prevent negative behaviour and you could just ask kids to hand over their phones before going to the loo during lessons if it's such an issue. FFS.

And that's another 818 words written!
This short story is quickly taking shape.
I won't get the chance to work on it tomorrow, but hopefully, I might on Saturday evening.

Just spent an hour and a half playing some Left 4 Dead 2 with my youngest brother.
We've been slowly making our way through it since I got my Steam Deck two Christmases ago.
He'll sit at his desktop PC and I'll sit beside him using my Steam Deck.
And we'll swear, a lot, even though we're only playing on easy. Curse the AI players plenty.
Finally started on the original game's campaigns. Got through No Mercy and Crash Course.
No Mercy took two attempts on final level.

Could it be perhaps that growing inequality caused by ongoing austerity, Brexit and the pandemic could in fact be some of the leading root causes for ongoing attendance issues in English schools?
"In one case, a mentor found a girl was not attending school because she had to share her only pair of shoes with her mother – meaning she could not go to school if her mother needed to wear shoes that day."

I do genuinely worry about what things will be like when my little one starts school. The systems of oppression that have sprung up with the rise of academies are not, in the long run, going to lead to heathy, well-rounded people.

More news and entertainment news websites should set up RSS feeds. And then clearly label them on their site.
There's been a drop in using them for written content since Google Reader was culled, but they're a great way to distribute content without relying on the whims of social media platforms.
Just now, I went to see if FANGORIA has an RSS and it does not from what I can see.

Had some pretty great rounds of #Fluxx this evening with a few people.
I won the last round through, what my husband likes to describe, as 10-20 minute turn. It was a case of me lining up cards to play and using opportunities for randomness to shift things in my favour.
Got an Action card that let me look through the discard pile for another action card or rule. I found one for stealing Keepers & I looked at the available keepers on the table and saw I was one theft away from the goal 😏 Yoink.

Just had a flashback to walking through a crafting tent at either West of England Steam Engine Rally or the Royal Cornwall Show, years ago.
There was a lady of many advanced years, sat at a table with the items needed to do lace work and she was making lace at her stand. It was incredibly fine work and looked like it took a lot of concentration. She had a dark velvety cushion in her lap, with some kinds of pins and then threads on these little weighted handles to work with.

Saw a trailer for #Expendables4 (#Expend4bles) at the cinema this evening, before the new Mission Impossible.
I noticed that the female actresses they've got along for the ride this time are significantly younger than the action film male stars that litter the franchise.
Would be a lot more comparable with the likes of Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu, Charlize Theron, Michelle Yeoh or Pam Grier alongside the male cast instead of Megan Fox. Closer in age and action/martial arts film legacy.

Me: I'll sort out an ingredients order for soap making so I can start sorting out people's Xmas presents...
The web site: No matter which browser you use on mobile, please allow me to keep randomly removing items from your basket, even though they're not out of stock.
Me: *Screams in frustration*

But the council is not directly asking second home owners who have gutted communities to help with this nor banning Airbnb. Hm 🤔

The Reddit Snoosletter for Reddit mods this month is, uh, a shadow of its former self.
I have a feeling that admin have given up on building a sense of community with mods.

Clangers episodes (Palin reboot) on over at Nanny and Grandad's, and my daughter is watching an episode where Granny Clanger is knitting crochet.
I am appalled.
Appalled, I tell you.
