@ukuku This makes so much sense, with or without #SolarPower, depending on budget.
First of all, the backup #HomeBatteries use old EV batteries, giving them a second life. Then the EV itself now has a second use, as a backup battery.
Finally some competition for the #Powerwall, which seems to enjoy outrageous pricing in the absence of more alternatives.

One last “dashboard” for the 6 month anniversary of the #WeirdAutos instance on Mastodon, and my self-imposed exile from the free for all hellscape that is The Bird S(h)ite™ today.
A dashboard search of my photos album picked out the cockpit of an #AerLingus #AirbusA330 right before takeoff from #DublinAirport for #LAX in March this year. They let me take a picture for one of my kids who is a junior Air Force officer training cadet.

@natharari Actually, I shouldn’t let the alt-left off the hook either. Seen from a cosy distance, in sunny Southern California, Jean-Luc Mélenchon is every bit as much of an opportunist as Donald Trump, and almost as good at lying.
I don’t want to ruffle anyone’s feathers here on Mastodon, but that’s how it seems to me, as a moderate centrist who considers himself socially and fiscally “responsible”.

@DenOfEarth Didn’t the #RAV4 of the same era achieve a similar distinction? I remember accompanying friends to test drive one in Virginia twenty years ago, and it even had a warning on the visor (or above it) about an increased risk of rollover. 🤷♂️

@makesubarugayagain everyone’s complaining about BMW, but having seen both multiple times now, these are the ugliest grilles on any vehicle out there, including the #Tundra the #RAV4 and almost every other #Toyota.
These stand out in a bad way, but for me personally, the #BMWiX and #BMWi4 actually stand out in a good way. They differentiate themselves without being offensive, but it’s JMO.
Saw my first #BMWXM too, and didn’t dislike that either. 🤷♂️

Some criticized the #AlpineA110 for costing as much as a Corvette, but look at the fuel economy! 😮
Also, the same performance as the equally lust worthy and economical #BMWi8, but at one third of the price. 🤯
I’ve seen it in real life. The video cannot do it justice. It is superb.

@Mark @drawks This might sell for more than I’d be willing to pay. I did a quick search on #CarGurus in SoCal, and nearly all of them are selling from $20-28K. Even with an automatic.
The search turned up 22 locally, of which 14 were the 6-spd auto.
None of them had anything but the black interior, so maybe that was all that was offered? 🤷♂️

The famous Ian from #HubNut reviewed a newer version of the previous R4 and deftly explained why it was a better car than the Citroën 2CV, but lacked the same incredible charm.

#W124 coupé #C124 was one of my favorite automobiles when owned. Effortless mile muncher at 80-100 mph (where permitted). Comfortable seats for 4 adults with their luggage. Excellent climate control. And of course, the amazing quirkery of the power rear windows, the seat belt advancers, and the front seat backs which unlocked automatically when the front door opened.
It was also reliable, inexpensive to service.

@serichards from my limited experience with both #Chargemap and #ABRP apps, I would like to be able to pick waypoints with chargers myself, like adding a waypoint to a navigation app, not just let the app pick one based on the intended charge % upon arrival at one’s destination. Maybe this exists already?
I didn’t really have time to play much with #BMWi4 navigation, but I expect the advantage of that would be preparing the car and battery for the intended charge location chosen.

#RangeRover certainly seem to enjoy a reasonable amount of success in the car Mecca of seemingly limitless budgets that is SoCal. #Defender and #Discovery seem to have dropped off a cliff edge. I think I might see a Lucid Air more frequently than either. 😬
Don’t know what would be the best source for actual sales numbers to confirm this.

@Mark Those batteries are quite cheap for today’s prices. I think mine are about $300, but the the originals from Mercedes-Benz did last 13 years on BOTH cars! 🤩
We replaced one with a #Varta who were the OEM supplier for the car. The other we replaced with a #Bosch, since no Varta options were available.
I asked my mechanic how likely it was that an #Interstate battery would last 13 years. His reply? 0% chance.
