@davidwilkins Iโve ridden in one through the vineyards of Burgundy. Itโs a very plush environment. The leather quality is superb. The dampening of uneven surfaces exemplary.
The clock is lovely, if a bit gimmicky IMO. My initial thought was how well would that be doing after 10-15 years of use? ๐ค
A very nice vehicle indeed. No idea of pricing and options, costs to maintain etc.

@richardknott Weโll see how it turns out, but for now, this doesnโt seem nearly as clever as the R5 reboot to me.
The famous Ian from #HubNut reviewed a newer version of the previous R4 and deftly explained why it was a better car than the Citroรซn 2CV, but lacked the same incredible charm.

@serichards those are so tidy! Sleeping wolf in sheepโs clothing.
Red can be a really tough color to get just right, but that era of VAG red was perfect.
I would love one of these.

@BitchinRob Wisely Automotive on YouTube and FB is an excellent resource IMHO.
Arthur (owner) and Martin are very knowledgeable and communicate openly about pricing, frequent issues, etc.
They also recently posted the cost of their service interventions.
Martin has also driven various i3 models across country, and reported on the ease of doing that as well.

@serichards @richardknott The Zoe also looked like it was made of Tupperware plastic to me, but I never sat or rode in oneโฆ ๐คทโโ๏ธ

For your enjoyment, I propose this amazing 16 minute review of the legendary #Peugeot504 TI by ๐ฌ๐ง based #HubNut.
He is a fabulously understated reviewer with immense knowledge and appreciation for the simple things.
Like and subscribe if you appreciate such content. He is truly Weird Car Royalty!

@serichards This should be mandatory watching for #WeirdCar aficionados.
#HubNut is such a down to earth guy that it makes his enthusiasm even more infectious.
Some criticized the #AlpineA110 for costing as much as a Corvette, but look at the fuel economy! ๐ฎ
Also, the same performance as the equally lust worthy and economical #BMWi8, but at one third of the price. ๐คฏ
Iโve seen it in real life. The video cannot do it justice. It is superb.

Does anyone know if @chromblitzen is doing okay? ๐ฌ
I havenโt seen him around since I got back from my transatlantic adventure.
Virtual friends on social media are important friends too. ๐ค ๐ ๐

Would I buy a #BMWi4 after this?
No.
Very competent. Doesnโt feel like a BMW IMH(fbw)O*. Too heavy.
The #BMWi3 feels much more like a BMW. Nimble and sprightly.
Once inside, the rear view is like a cave for cave trolls. Iโm not a cave troll. Very dark, and huge rear pillars. One has to rely on the cameras a lot, but for overtaking or lane changing, glancing over oneโs shoulder is insufficient for carefree maneuvers.
* fbw = free but worthless

I found it! ๐
Fortunately, I didnโt watch many YouTube videos until very recently, and I could sort of remember the content of the video I wanted.
The answer: #ABRP for A Better Route Planner. ๐ฅณ
Here is the video in question, where Martin picks up a #BMWi3 in Edinburgh and drives it to London.

@Basmitharts really depends on what you compare it to, and what the intended usage isโฆ half the price of a Range Rover, but at least half the luxury too. ๐คทโโ๏ธ

@chromblitzen great car chase in this short clip, with lots of vintage automobiles! ๐
-
@DenOfEarth @geekygearhead I really love what BMW seem to be doing with the Neue Klasse.
This might be the first EV I would consider buying new rather than leasing, as long as they donโt screw up the pricing by making it too expensive. I know itโs not going to be cheap, but letโs keep it close to current 3 series pricing.

@vinc Gadzooks! ๐ณ
150 miles EPA and stuck on CHAdeMO charge ports?! ๐ฑ
If they had just changed the port to CCS, it would have helped.

@serichards what struck you as patchy?
The center console cover looks like it could do with some attention, and the phone equipment is obsolete. Could probably be removed. Seats seem to be in very good condition for the age and mileage. The navigation is probably worthless (unless it has TMC capability) and the maps are probably frozen in time, unless Audi do a better job than Mercedes-Benz for vehicles of this age.

@richlucking replaced by the ID.1 or ID.2 maybe?

This is a โmemoryโ from December 2017 taken with an iPhone X โ the image will be heavily compressed on Mastodon โ while leaving a rest area for a driver swap on I-70 WB (luckily, no snow or ice that time).
We used to travel that 1,015 mile trip (each way) once or twice a year in our Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and later, in our E-Class. Now, we just fly to Denver and grab a rental car.

One last โdashboardโ for the 6 month anniversary of the #WeirdAutos instance on Mastodon, and my self-imposed exile from the free for all hellscape that is The Bird S(h)iteโข today.
A dashboard search of my photos album picked out the cockpit of an #AerLingus #AirbusA330 right before takeoff from #DublinAirport for #LAX in March this year. They let me take a picture for one of my kids who is a junior Air Force officer training cadet.
