@ZeKik @serichards #AlpineA110 is one of the few newer cars that interests me - in spite of not coming with a manual.
Comparing to a Corvette C8 on price and/or performance? Does not compute! It's like saying you shouldn't buy a Civic Type R because a Jeep Wrangler is cheaper (or whatever flawed automotive analogy you want to use).
We didn't get this car in Canada. When the 15 year rule passes there might be one in my collection shortly thereafter!

Just following up on my recent discussion about #EVChargingApp choices in Europe.
#ZapMap describes itself in the App Store as a 🇬🇧 charging app, so I haven’t loaded that one for a trip to 🇫🇷.
I have loaded #ABRP so I’m checking that out.
Finally, #ChargeMap. This one requires a free registration to see much, so I’m going to do that.
I’ll only be renting for three days, and I’ll be busy, so we’ll see how much information I can share.

@richardknott We’ll see how it turns out, but for now, this doesn’t seem nearly as clever as the R5 reboot to me.
The famous Ian from #HubNut reviewed a newer version of the previous R4 and deftly explained why it was a better car than the Citroën 2CV, but lacked the same incredible charm.

@serichards those are so tidy! Sleeping wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Red can be a really tough color to get just right, but that era of VAG red was perfect.
I would love one of these.

@serichards @richardknott The Zoe also looked like it was made of Tupperware plastic to me, but I never sat or rode in one… 🤷♂️

@DazzlingDamo @motoringpodcast circling the drain like #BritishLeyland of old? Surely not! 😱
#RangeRover certainly seem to enjoy a reasonable amount of success in the car Mecca of seemingly limitless budgets that is SoCal. #Defender and #Discovery seem to have dropped off a cliff edge. I think I might see a Lucid Air more frequently than either. 😬
Don’t know what would be the best source for actual sales numbers to confirm this.

@serichards This should be mandatory watching for #WeirdCar aficionados.
#HubNut is such a down to earth guy that it makes his enthusiasm even more infectious.
Some criticized the #AlpineA110 for costing as much as a Corvette, but look at the fuel economy! 😮
Also, the same performance as the equally lust worthy and economical #BMWi8, but at one third of the price. 🤯
I’ve seen it in real life. The video cannot do it justice. It is superb.

@serichards from my limited experience with both #Chargemap and #ABRP apps, I would like to be able to pick waypoints with chargers myself, like adding a waypoint to a navigation app, not just let the app pick one based on the intended charge % upon arrival at one’s destination. Maybe this exists already?
I didn’t really have time to play much with #BMWi4 navigation, but I expect the advantage of that would be preparing the car and battery for the intended charge location chosen.

Could be #Tatooine but it’s actually #Tunisia! 😍
-
So far, in this small village in the middle of nowhere, #Chargemap is providing much more detail on the state of the chargers than #ABRP.
For example:
-
@Basmitharts really depends on what you compare it to, and what the intended usage is… half the price of a Range Rover, but at least half the luxury too. 🤷♂️

@DenOfEarth @geekygearhead I really love what BMW seem to be doing with the Neue Klasse.
This might be the first EV I would consider buying new rather than leasing, as long as they don’t screw up the pricing by making it too expensive. I know it’s not going to be cheap, but let’s keep it close to current 3 series pricing.
-
@autonerdery I quite like the i4, and the pricing is quite competitive overall, but I think it only makes sense as a lease.
Currently starts at $450 per month over 36 months, with $4,900 due at signing. 30,000 miles max, with $0.25 per mile in excess of that number.
That pricing is only possible because they add the EV incentive to the lease, even for those who wouldn’t qualify when purchasing outright.
Personally, I’m more interested in the #NeueKlasse starting 2025.
-
@autonerdery almost impossible to beat a #MercedesBenz #W124 in terms of driveability and longevity if properly maintained. 🤩
-
@vinc Gadzooks! 😳
150 miles EPA and stuck on CHAdeMO charge ports?! 😱
If they had just changed the port to CCS, it would have helped.
-
@mottenfest @Basmitharts immediately thought it was a #RAV4 with that horrendous front. 🤮

@serichards what struck you as patchy?
The center console cover looks like it could do with some attention, and the phone equipment is obsolete. Could probably be removed. Seats seem to be in very good condition for the age and mileage. The navigation is probably worthless (unless it has TMC capability) and the maps are probably frozen in time, unless Audi do a better job than Mercedes-Benz for vehicles of this age.

@Mark Those batteries are quite cheap for today’s prices. I think mine are about $300, but the the originals from Mercedes-Benz did last 13 years on BOTH cars! 🤩
We replaced one with a #Varta who were the OEM supplier for the car. The other we replaced with a #Bosch, since no Varta options were available.
I asked my mechanic how likely it was that an #Interstate battery would last 13 years. His reply? 0% chance.

@richardknott for two wheel vehicles in Indonesia initially.
Interesting to learn that #Bolloré’s #BlueSolutions has been the world’s sole producer of solid state batteries since 2011, with “3 million cells delivered to market”! 😳
