Activating the Fediverse to find what car my mom had! This is a photo of it, with her dad, and I thought it was a McLaughlin Buick from her own recollection, but at a family dinner yesterday I learned that the Buick was her brother's, and she had a different car but we don't know what it was. I got a notification that the Qashqai had passed its MOT a couple of days back. It is already at a dealer the other end of the country. It’s up for double the price WBAC paid for it. Good luck to ‘em.

RYCy is home safe!
Absolutely loved the hellish 40mph average speed cam roadworks on dual carriageway with the fancy follow the car in front and stay in lane cruise and lane guidance.
Hated the 2 hours lost trying to find how to reset the fackinn’ thing back to MPH as someone reset it to KPH after the test drive 🤬
It’s only easy or possible when you know it’s 4 levels deep in the SatNav Settings menu wtaf?

New to me car collection day has arrived.
We had horrendous rain last night and a storm is expected tomorrow but the sun is out at the moment ☀️
First the dogs are going to the vets for their monthly arthritis jabs.

At least the dealer experience was sooo much nicer than Daughter had with THAT car supermarket in Leeds.

Update
We had a good discussion and have come the the conclusion we can’t part with the #SoulEV it’s just too quirky and fun. I can’t believe how attached we are to it after 14 months.
But we now have enough in the car kitty to trade the Qashqai for an #e_Niro … unless the MD (wife) changes her mind about things before I do a deal 😂

We went to have a good look at the #e_Niro today and we loved its practicality and features. And it looks quite nice in dark blue in a grown up respectable kinda way. But it’s just so dull after the #SoulEV especially on the inside.
So we have lots of thinking, number crunching and Soul, or E_Nero, searching to do 🤔

We don’t think we need 3 vehicles and we are thinking of keeping the #Roadtek #CamperVan and chopping in the #SoulEV and Qashqai.
Absolutely top budget is £20k so 4+ top spec 30k mile late e-Nero seem the obvious target and we are going to look at one tomorrow hopefully.🤞
Unfortunately X-Power MG4 are still just out of budget (and too big and wide IMO) but is there anything more fun or #weirdcarmastodon that we should consider?

We took the #SoulEV and #i3 for a day out at the deer park yesterday* 🤣
Two cars that are quirky and go about doing the same thing in totally different ways but are an absolute hoot to drive as well as being cheapish to buy and small change to fuel.
Once again huge thanks to the Mastodon (Fediverse) #Ev peeps for opening my eyes to their benefits.
*Dogs, Grandkid and us big kids enjoyed it too.

Absolutely 👍I gave up my last diesel in 2012 and my asthma has improved considerably since.
And having joined #weirdautos almost two years ago #weirdcarmastodon persuaded me the future was #EV Now the always available low down grunt I loved from a turbo diesel is available all the time (even in my lowly #SoulEV) 😁

Y’all, my aches have aches. I worked for a solid week after work to get the drivetrain back in my truck, and it’s so fucking close to driving again. I had to take a day off today to just let my body rest (and let more parts trickle in from Summit), but I’ll be back at it soon.

One last “dashboard” for the 6 month anniversary of the #WeirdAutos instance on Mastodon, and my self-imposed exile from the free for all hellscape that is The Bird S(h)ite™ today.
A dashboard search of my photos album picked out the cockpit of an #AerLingus #AirbusA330 right before takeoff from #DublinAirport for #LAX in March this year. They let me take a picture for one of my kids who is a junior Air Force officer training cadet.

One of my all-time favorite dashboards is the 1970’s #CitroënCX, especially in this automatic version. Note the lighted shifter position indication, even though the shifter is on the floor, not next to the steering column.
The speedometer and rev counter were both floating, and changed color as the reading increased.
No stalk controls are present. Everything is switched within easy reach.
